Make PC as a trusted device for 2FA

I use 3 devices to access my Arlo cams. My phone, my tablet and my PC. It isn't possible to add my PC to known devices for the 2 step verification process. Every time I try to access my cams via my PC, I have to get the code from my phone and enter it in my PC. Would be much easier for PC users to have the capability to list the PC as a known device.

I can't agree more to this request.

I love my cameras, but view them primarily from my PC and am required to Approve every time I view.  In this day and age of saved "trusted devices", this is crazy.  Yes, make me Approve whenever I use a new device.

Frustrated.........

Fledgling

The ONLY current workaround is to use BlueStacks for the PC. This is an Android emulator. It is free and it does work. Download the software and enter a google account to be able ot access the Playstore. Now download the Alro app from the playstore and install it. Run the Arlo app on BlueStacks and sign in with your Arlo account details. You will be sent a verifiacion code to your actual Android phone. Enter this code into the Arlo App in BlueStacks and TRUST the new device. Now you have a trusted device running on your PC.

Upsides? It avoids the total and utter nonsense of 2FA on PC that Arlo are pushing down our unwilling necks and actually works.

Downsides? Not many - the interface looks like it does on the Android phone and the resolution is not quite as good as you can get on the browser.

I do hope this helps some of the very frustrated users whislt we all look for better products out there.

Arlo, fix this!!

PLEASE make this 2FA optional, or at least until you can fix computers being trusted devices.

PLEASE!

The Arlo login method now requires two-step authentication.  Specific user cell phones and tablets may be identified as a "trusted device", so as to allow the user to login to Arlo quickly, and to see activity related to the Arlo cameras very quickly.  However, if logging in from a Windows PC web browser, an additional step must be taken to complete the authentication process before access to the Arlo cameras is allowed.   This additional step is a slow and cumbersome, and requires waiting for an email containing a one-time access code, or waiting for an SMS message to appear on the user's cell phone.  The suggested idea is to update the Arlo software to allow a user's WIndows PC to be marked as a "trusted device" - so that there is no delay when logging into Arlo from a Windows PC.   Many banks across the USA, and many other e-commerce companies, allow a user's PC to be marked as a "trusted device" - while also supporting two-step authentication for their users - so this is a common practice in the tech industry.  Please consider this idea for improving the Arlo experience.  Thank you.

Hello Arlo Mods -

I've been a happy arlo user for 3 years. No problems with the system or performance, until 5 days ago when I was forced to set up the 2FA.

I've about reached my tolerance limit with this. Where are you with fixing this or making it an option?

Do you understand this is not working for your customers? Not to mention the problems its created for older adults or people who don't live with a smart phone in their hand?

Still waiting for answers or a solution

Hey you idiots, how about upping the expiration time of the verification token from two minutes to five or so?  I imagine that your mail server is working pretty hard now sending all these emails and I can't get them in less than two minutes.

Technically (and maybe legally) this constitutes a denial-of-service and could be actionable by a whole bunch of people.

Ironically enough, your forum here doesn't time people out and even has a 'keep me logged in' option.  It's awesome how consistently you screw up!

I would appreciate a formal comment from Arlo on their intent to deal with the 2FA issue. I talked to a technician who stated the current status is permanent. I’ve also read comments that suggest a fix is coming.

Please let us know if this is going to change so we can plan accordingly.

Their latest stance is "they are looking into it" and they suggest everyone create feature functionality requests.  In my opinion, that's just a stalling technique to quell the masses.  They absolutely know this is a major issue, that they created, and they have no plans to do anything about it because they only want to support mobile apps.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out they don't care about customers unless they are high paying subscription holders.

This should be the number one bug their "engineers" are working on, but sadly it's not even in their queue.

The tech told me that it's too easy for someone to access your computer and access the cameras.  I replied it's password protected the same as my phone is and it's a lot easier to steal or lose a phone.  So he referred me to this thread.  To add insult to injury, I'm not big on replacing things that aren't broken or having the latest i-phone, so my i-phone 5 is now incompatible with Arlo.  Of course it was/has been in the past.  So, I had to install the app on my wife's i-phone.. .  Lame, really lame.

I've got an iPhone 6S+.  Crossing my fingers they don't decide to let this one slip out of supports radar as well.  I plan on using this phone for at least another year or two.

Sorry about the iPhone 5 not being supported.  Just plain ole lazy engineering at work here.  Not impressed Arlo.
