When someone walks in the frame of the camera, it takes way too long to view the image. Open the app, then wait for "getting status" which sometimes takes a minute, then press the play button on the screen, then wait for the camera to connect, then see the image. Pretty much useless for seeing whats going on at the very moment its happening.

LIKE THIS IF YOU ALSO WANT THIS FEATURE:
I'd like to disable cloud recording when using local storage to SD for many reasons, but the top two are:
1) It seems like EVERY website gets hacked eventually. I don't want recordings of inside or outside my home being leaked out on the Internet.
2) I'm limited to a certain amount of bandwidth every month through our ISP, and lately I've been exceeding my quota which means additional overage fees. Arlo video may or may not be contributing to that, but I'd like to stop uploads so I can be sure.
(BTW... I know this has been asked as a question in the community before and shut down by super users. This is not a question of whether or not this is possible. This is a feature request to the Arlo team.)

Can you add support with Amazon Key? Their system requires a camera to activate. There are 3 camera vendors that they support but none are Arlo. I have a WiFi deadbolt that works with Amazon key but I can’t register it. I don’t want to go and buy another camera for my front door.

On my system I get false positives on detected motion all of the time. The sad part is that the camera is watching over a large empty field. I would love to see some type of marker on the video showing what the camera has detected. This would allow me to change the camera settings to

I know this is primarily a residential system, but we use Arlo in our small business and sometimes I have to search through hours of clips to find the right moment. It would make it extremely beneficial to be able to set a play speed (2x, 4x, 8x) to be able to quickly scan through recordings, then go frame by frame to capture the exact moment I want.
Being able to capture a still frame is great and adding some editing afterwards would be nice, too. Timestamps and some basic highlighting/2D drawings all would be a fairly easy addition and helpful in the right circumstance.

So imagine you're asleep, and there's a prowler on your property. You don't hear the mobile phone alert, and you're asleep so you can't use the two-way mic to alert the burglar that they're being watched.
It would be great if a pre-recorded message could auto play from the camera's microphone when motion is detected to alert the burglar. Customize this so the voice would only play when the camera is armed and motion is detected between the hours of x and y.
The feature to upload your own pre-recorded voice is already available on Arlo baby monitor, so it shouldn't be too difficult to enable this on the range of Arlo security cameras too?
Also, can you PLEASE increase the two-way mic volume on the Arlo Pro cameras itself? They're not loud enough.

I would like to be able to customize my activity zones so they can trigger a recording wihtout triggering a notification and vice versa. This would help me take advantage of the wide area being monitored by my Arlo Ultras as I could designate an area of high traffic to only trigger recordings without notifications, while a more critical area (on the same camera) would trigger both a recording and a notification.

I've seen this suggested several times over the past several years and I believe this would be a pretty simple addition to the apps. There are times I will disable certain cameras when I know people are going to be setting them off repeatedly. However, when I disable a camera I have to remember to turn it back on. Why not have a setting to temporarily disable one or several cameras for a finite period of time? Such a simple addition this would be to increase the usefulness of the cameras. Does anyone from Arlo read these suggestions?

The whole "If Motion is Detected" needs an AND option to include what type of motion: People Vehicles

Package
Other When configuring modes this granulatarity is needed to minimize unecessary notifications and excessive noise. A mode needs to be able to have multiple options per camera. i.e. If the following: Front Door, Motion Detected - AND "Motion is People" - THEN "Record Video" - THEN "Push Notification" The "AND Motion is People" needs to have a complex set of boolean options. IS People and IS NOT Vehicles, etc. I don't want to be notified by "Animals" on some cameras, ever. Additional, there are OTHER cameras that animal notifications are the ONLY thing I want notified on. It's nice Arlo can categorize what it detects but unless you can create rules/triggers on those they are useless. Useless. This logic is already built into the Library, where you can select and limit what you see in the library. That concept needs to be moved over to Modes and Notifications. Maybe a customer only wants to be notified if they have a PACKAGE detected on their front door and nothing else. Maybe they want a push notification for a package but an email if a person is detected. Or, maybe they want push notification for packages 24 hours a day but only push notifications if a person is detected after 9pm, etc.

Hi,
I had previously suggested an idea to mute notifications and it's great to see that feature added now. I'd like to suggest taking that one step further having used the feature a few times now.
Use case: I have 4 camera's, 1 at the back garden, 1 indoors and 2 at the front. While I'm working in the back graden, it would be great to just mute the back garden camera only so that I still get notifcations if the front camera goes off.

Why doesn't ARLO offer an Upgrade/Promotional Buyback program? I'm a relatively new customer and yes I know the new cameras are backward compatible with whAt I have but I would like and could really use some of the new features for all my cameras.
ARLO PLEASE consider putting together a program to help out all your customers that have older equipment. Buying the newer cameras and base station to get some of the needed capabilites and functions is just not affordable for me.

I'm super happy that we've now finally got the HomeKit integration for the cameras, it's really rounding-out my HomeKit configuration, but what I'm surprised to discover, is that there's no actual way to either enable/disable the cameras, or to Arm the security via the base station.
There are a couple of programmatic ways that this could be done.
1. The Camera devices already have the device types Camera, and Motion, but adding a switch type would allow users to enable/disable cameras within HomeKit routines.
2. Alternatively, the Base Station could be presented as a HomeKit Security device type, which would allow routines to Arm/Disarm the Arlo mode. (This would be more convenient for HomeKit, as you'd still be able to preview the camera, even if it's not armed for recordings)

I think it would be easy to use certain motion patterns based on the direction the motion is coming from. For instance, have a Rule that motion that moves from left to right is ignored but every other directional combo is recorded. This would allow for people to leave my house and nothing records but if someone is coming into my house they will be recorded bc the motion is from right to left and only motion from left to right is ignored. Another example would be by depth. So anything moving away from the camera is ignored, but anything getting closer would be recorded. This would obviously work well for the video doorbell or doorways.

Here in Uk in winter we have often temperatures around zero, so freezing! Whenever my cameras stops charging the battery die soon and i don't even know that some of them doesn't record at all! Would be great to get notified when cameras automatically stop charging when below freezing, so i know when to bring them in and charge !

It would be nice to connect the new Arlo video doorbell to my Arlo Pro 2 base station so I can have local and cloud storage. I do not mind needing the Smart Premier plan for it to work. I live in a townhome community where park side by side. People mess with unlocked cars and my neighbors ask for my video. The time frame varies between incident and asking for the video. With my 2 TB HDD I can store a years worth of videos.

Current "schedule" feature allows to activate Modes, and in Mode you can choose cameras, but not the activity zones. It would be nice to be able to monitor only activity zones during some time range, for example day, and all area at night (ignore activity zone, or choose different one).

(Dear Arlo - please don't move this to another topic again. This is NOT really about alerts when offline.
It's MAINLY about the cameras' batteries draining when the base goes offline. Please read in it's entirety.)
So this happens now and again - my base station goes offline. I assume it's when a firmware update is pushed out and crashes my base station.
My issue is that when the base station goes offline, the cameras drain their batteries trying to reconnect.
This last time, the base station went offline around 10:30am pacific time on the 6th May. Perhaps someone from Arlo can confirm if that was a firmware update? Or tell me how I can check that myself?
I didn't realise until late on the 7th. (Thankfully I have other cameras, because I know I can't rely on this system yet.) (Also thankfully I'm at home. When this happens while I'm away, there's nothing I can do... Big fail for a security system.) Power cycling the base station only served to show me the cameras all offline. Sometimes rebooting the base station a few times brings some cameras back online, but not this time. Clearly the batteries were all drained. It was too late at night to be getting ladders out and swapping batteries, so that's what I'm doing today. Thankfully I have rechargeable batteries, otherwise Arlo would be getting a big bill for new ones! And I have confirmed that the batteries are all dead - power cycling the cameras does nothing.
Here are suggestions. I hope Arlo are listening. They are pretty basic requirements of a security system.
When a camera detects the base station is offline, it goes into a low power mode. Instead of draining its batteries by continuously trying to reconnect, have it try once every minute for the first 10 minutes, then once every 10 minutes for the next hour, then once every 30 minutes. That way, when the base station can be physically power cycled when the owner returns home (note that this usually can't be done remotely as the base station is offline), the cameras will hopefully still have some battery power left.
When the base station goes offline:
Have the base station AUTOMATICALLY power cycle itself say every 20 minutes until it reconnects. That way if I can't get to the base station for a week, it doesn't render the entire system USELESS!
SEND ME A NOTIFICATION. Pretty please. The cloud knows. If I open the app, it knows. If a security system goes completely offline, it should trigger a panic mode 😱 where it sends not only repeated push notifications, but also texts and emails.
When a camera goes offline:
Automatically try to reconnect, and go into a low power mode.

We should be able to change Arlo's alert notifications Sound & Volume without affecting entire smartphone and possibly be able to have different alert sounds for different cameras! THAT would be awesome!
