Our installation will be very remote beach house. There is a need for mains failure detection in case intruder has deliberately switched of the power. This would be a nice sofware update feature.

Because of Arlo's excellent video quality and excellent field of view I am able to see most of a large room/outdoor area with one camera. Unfortunately this tends to minimize the effectiveness of the motion detection as the camera tends to be more centrally located and so it does not detect something/someone until it is halfway or more across the room/area if it detects it at all. This leaves users with the undesirable options of either compromising their camera placement to accomodate motion detection or using an entire camera exclusively as a motion detector with little to no useful function as a camera. This latter scenario is a situation for which the camera is over-qualified and overpriced. A separate motion sensor that would trigger the camera to start recording when someone enters the room/access point would alleviate this issue. It could also help with the issue that myself and others are having with lag in recording start time. The sensor could be placed further out from the camera when necessary so that it could trigger the camera to start recording earlier, accounting for the lag time and recording what users actually wanted recorded.
An additional sensor would not be something that would be required of all cameras and placements, but it would be useful for specific scenarios and even having two sensors at opposite inds of a room/area triggering one camera could be a useful setup. As it is though, it is relatively cost prohibitive to expand your system to do this as the cameras are the only sensor option and cost too much to be wasted on being merely a sensor. Additinally these "wasted" cameras eat into your allotment under the current subscription you have and could create additional cost to the user for an upgraded subscription. As it is, I am hesitant to expand my system (currently at 4 cameras), even though I would like to have greater coverage, because of the up front cost of the cameras not being used to their full potential combined with the monthly cost of the upgraded subscription. I would be far more willing to expand my system and upgrade my subscription if there were external sensors that would allow me to use my system effeciently and effectively like I want to without the inflated up front cost.
I could see how this could be achieved either through hardware development of sensors exclusively for Arlo or through software development of integration with already established systems which perform comlementary functions. With either one, if the price is right I'm in, if it stays as it is my expansion is stuck.

It would be great if Arlo Q could somehow trigger the siren in the New Pro Base. It seems it would be more effective and there would be far less false alarm soundings. I have 4 outside cameras, I'm guessing the siren will be going off more than I want with false alerts. Whereas indoors when the home is empty, there should'nt be any false alarms. I'm way more concerned about someone getting into the home than a delivery to my front door.

We are using the Arlo Pro system to protect and monitor an unoccupied house on a large piece of property with several outdoor storage buildings. Its siren only runs on the base station inside the house, but is not able to be heard outside at any of the entry points to the premises. We are also 2 hours away from the property, so responding to a serious alert takes time. Obviously we have taken all the other steps possible to secure the premises, but that does not necessarily protect it, especially if nobody is there. Since there are so many cheap fake security cameras on the market, I don’t think that the mere presence of signs or cameras is a sufficient deterrent. The idea of a security system is not to notify you that you have been victimized, but rather to prevent it from occurring in the first place. An audible warning coming from the cameras themselves would provide such a deterrent. Your Pro model cameras already have 2-way audio capability, which allows the system owner to announce something through the camera speakers but only when they are actively monitoring the system, and then only by using whatever microphone is provided by their computer. The system does NOT have the ability to “automatically” deliver a pre-recorded warning announcement through the cameras the instant that they detect motion. This feature would let intruders know that someone is really watching, which would make the system much more effective. We wish we could automatically play a user created MP3 format message such as "Warning video property surveillance recording has been activated and security personnel have been notified" through the camera speakers as soon as they are triggered. It seems that such a feature could easily be enabled by writing a downloadable firmware update that either adds such a recording playback feature to the base station, or by giving the base station permission to access a media player on the system owner’s computer instead of the PC's microphone.

Today ArloBaby's music can only come from a predefined list in the cloud library, or recorded from a microphone.
Would be great to be able to add custom music, e.g. MP3 files.
Pretty please? 🙂

Hello, We have been using the Arlo Baby for a few month now, and it is overall a good product. One feature that I think would make it an awesome product would be to have the ability to turn on the volume on the app when an alert is triggered. Instead of receiving an email or push notification, it would be super useful to hear the sound from the camera straight away. I guess there may be some limitations on iPhone, so a workaround would be to set the app to play the sound continuously (which is already available), while being able to set various volume levels depending on wether an alert has been triggered. To give you an example, we are using the app with sound on the whole night to ensure we would hear if anything went wrong. But the sound is always at the same volume. This capability would make the Arlo baby a true baby monitor.

Example Use Case: Nanny/sitter is watching kids/pets/home/etc and you need to grant access to another individual during a restricted time frame. In our case, I need to grant access to 2 of 2 cameras M-F from 9am-5pm. Details: In Arlo Admin Dashboard (desktop)> Grant Access> Add User - I would like to be able to select cameras & Allow Access based on time-of-day and day-of-week

Why doesn't ARLO offer an Upgrade/Promotional Buyback program? I'm a relatively new customer and yes I know the new cameras are backward compatible with whAt I have but I would like and could really use some of the new features for all my cameras.
ARLO PLEASE consider putting together a program to help out all your customers that have older equipment. Buying the newer cameras and base station to get some of the needed capabilites and functions is just not affordable for me.

Currently, I would have to create multiple rules in a custom mode to do what I want. Here is an example: I would like a mode that when any of my indoor cameras get triggered to start recording on all cameras inside and out until motion is no longer detected on any camera. This would also be ideal to delay motion stop as well to ensure that and delay between cameras detecting motion would all be captured in one alert. Currently, I have to create an exponential amount of rules to cover all basis. In this case, 4 cameras would come out to 16 rules. 4 rules for each camera just to select recording on each individual camera.

Hi there,
At some point in the past 3 months (I am not sure which version) the preview tiles were changed to be really small on iPad iOS. Although i understand the change, please allow for the option to have the larger preview tiles as well. For example, when only using 2 cameras, I would like to see the split screen option (in portrait mode) to see both my Arlo baby monitors as large as possible. With an iPad on my nightstand as my baby monitor, it is really hard to see what my two little ones are doing on the small preview tiles.

Last night, our internet went down for a couple of hours due to an ISP issue. I am very surprised that Arlo, especially the baby camera, cannot still stream via LAN within the same network. As a parent, it does not make me feel comfortable that while I'm sleeping, the camera could become disconnected and I would not be aware if any noises happen in the nursery. I think this should be a top priority for the baby camera since parents are putting trust in Arlo to be able to monitor their child while sleeping.

I can set actions in IFTTT or Stringify when motion is detected but would like temperature integration for the Arlo Baby Cam e.g. As a user I would like my Nest Thermostat to turn on when Arlo Baby Cam detects that temperature drops lower than 17degrees in the nursery. I can currently use IFTTT to send alerts when motion/audio detected or low battery reported but temperature/humidity/air quality isn’t connected up to IFTTT yet.

Hi,
Could Netgear Product team release a new firmware to enable temperature sensor and motion sensor as standalone function in homekit? This will be very useful for home automation (i.e. baby's room reaches 80F -> turns on the A/C, montion detected -> light on).

Would it be possible possible in the future to have a community feature on app so near by neighbors can post stuff to keep everyone informed or be aware of things happening in the neighborhood. The company Ring (door bell) has this feature and find a lot of people love it. I tried convincing my family to get Arlo but went with Ring because of the community feature on app, maybe something to look into, nice to see what's going on in your neighborhood. Thanks

Arlo Baby needs to be integrated with SmartThings just like the other Arlo cams. Why is this not possible ? It has several advantages.

Currently through the Mode you can only separately control Email and Push Notifications for Audio and Motion detection. Temperature and Humidity are not in this section but instead are under "Device Settings - Sensors" where individually under Temperature and Humidity you can toggle "Notifications" on and off, but that controls both Push and Email notifications where you can't separately control them. I find Push notifications to be useful, but email notifications are not and I would like to disable that. Otherwise, if I had the ability to control email preferences for the types of emails/email notifications I'd like to receive that would work too.
Also, the Model option when submtting a New Idea does not include the Baby model. This issue has been discussed for almost a year here: https://community.arlo.com/t5/Arlo-Baby/How-do-I-disable-email-alerts-for-the-environment-sensors/m-p/1573706

(Dear Arlo - please don't move this to another topic again. This is NOT really about alerts when offline.
It's MAINLY about the cameras' batteries draining when the base goes offline. Please read in it's entirety.)
So this happens now and again - my base station goes offline. I assume it's when a firmware update is pushed out and crashes my base station.
My issue is that when the base station goes offline, the cameras drain their batteries trying to reconnect.
This last time, the base station went offline around 10:30am pacific time on the 6th May. Perhaps someone from Arlo can confirm if that was a firmware update? Or tell me how I can check that myself?
I didn't realise until late on the 7th. (Thankfully I have other cameras, because I know I can't rely on this system yet.) (Also thankfully I'm at home. When this happens while I'm away, there's nothing I can do... Big fail for a security system.) Power cycling the base station only served to show me the cameras all offline. Sometimes rebooting the base station a few times brings some cameras back online, but not this time. Clearly the batteries were all drained. It was too late at night to be getting ladders out and swapping batteries, so that's what I'm doing today. Thankfully I have rechargeable batteries, otherwise Arlo would be getting a big bill for new ones! And I have confirmed that the batteries are all dead - power cycling the cameras does nothing.
Here are suggestions. I hope Arlo are listening. They are pretty basic requirements of a security system.
When a camera detects the base station is offline, it goes into a low power mode. Instead of draining its batteries by continuously trying to reconnect, have it try once every minute for the first 10 minutes, then once every 10 minutes for the next hour, then once every 30 minutes. That way, when the base station can be physically power cycled when the owner returns home (note that this usually can't be done remotely as the base station is offline), the cameras will hopefully still have some battery power left.
When the base station goes offline:
Have the base station AUTOMATICALLY power cycle itself say every 20 minutes until it reconnects. That way if I can't get to the base station for a week, it doesn't render the entire system USELESS!
SEND ME A NOTIFICATION. Pretty please. The cloud knows. If I open the app, it knows. If a security system goes completely offline, it should trigger a panic mode 😱 where it sends not only repeated push notifications, but also texts and emails.
When a camera goes offline:
Automatically try to reconnect, and go into a low power mode.
p.s. thank you for finally ditching flash...

There are products Like hatch baby rest or mella that have a night light, play music and can tell your child with a red, yellow or green light if it’s time to get up or continue sleeping. This is wonderful for parents as the children continue to grow and are sleep training. Arlo has the capabilities to turn the light on or off from the app, but only allows us to set a timer to turn off the light or music. Not a timer to turn it on to let your baby or child know it’s ok to wake. Having to buy more devices when this one is capable is frustrating. More parents would be inclined to purchase arlo baby if the capabilities grew with the child. Making it a much more versatile product that parents will love. I’m hoping a new update will give us this option.

Due to the expense of buying these batteries, why wouldn't we have the option to use electric to power these things? I KNOW we can buy rechargeables, but electric would be best for many reasons. Any plans to accomodate that?
