I use 3 devices to access my Arlo cams. My phone, my tablet and my PC. It isn't possible to add my PC to known devices for the 2 step verification process. Every time I try to access my cams via my PC, I have to get the code from my phone and enter it in my PC. Would be much easier for PC users to have the capability to list the PC as a known device.

We should be allowed to change the name of the SSID to something that isn’t labeled Arlo so we aren’t advertising we have cameras hidden around our residence. This isn’t asking to make the base stations network to be invisible. Just allow us the ability to change the name to something else so no one is aware that a house has cameras.

This is piggybacking an older Arlo Idea request with more than 140 votes, that was closed.
Summary of the idea:
Allow users to adjust the Wi-Fi Radios settings of the base station, in order to be able to change the channel in which the base station transmit (in both 5 GHz or 2.4 GHz band).
Introduction:
With a lot of smart things in our home and the use of automation, a "good and reliable" wi-fi network is mission critical for our daily lives, understanding that home security is super important as well. In addition, we really love the hassle free approach that Arlo offers.
Issue:
Arlo does not offer the option to modify the Wi-Fi radio settings of the base station, most of the time the station use the same Wi-Fi channels of the existing home router/wireless infrastructure. This create a situation that channel contention occurs and creates co-channel interference, providing a poor user experience and downgrading the reliability aspect of both (security cameras and home network)
In the following image, the Arlo Base station is in the same channel of my home Wi-Fi router (Arlo uses 20 MHz channel width, my home router use 40 MHz width). So if you have 2 or 3 Netflix or youtube streams in your home network and the Arlo station is in the same channel, you will likely create a scenario that cameras would struggle to send data to the base stations or provide live feeds.
Proposed Idea or Solution
Simple Option:
Create an option to tell the Arlo Base station to not use the existing channels of the wi-fi network. A menu could be created that Arlo prompts the owner which SSID is the home network, so the Arlo base is aware to not transmit and use the same channel of the home network.
Advanced Option:
Create an option to allow some channels to be disabled in the 5 GHz and 2.4GHz. (and not allow a fixed channel to be selected that might be congested in the future and tentative disrupting the security cameras).
Conclusion and closing thoughts:
Any of these options would provide flexibility to the Arlo base station to select the best channel, without creating co-channel interference (or increasing channel contention) with the existing wi-fi router/wireless infrastructure, will not downgrade the hassle free approach of ARLO and will provide a reliable user experience to both security and wireless use cases.
P.D: A nice to have option is to be able to change the SSID name of the Arlo Base Station (but, baby steps first)
I hope that Arlo community support in this idea and Arlo engineering team understands that this is not about power users being picky, this is about increasing reliability to both Arlo and home wireless services.
Be safe.
mixtape.

I often disable cameras when mowing the lawn or other activities that cause the cameraman to come in constantly. It would be GREAT to be able to receive reminder alert that a camera or the whole system has been disarmed. Even more so if the system was hacked be an intruder who disabled the cameras. Or if a camera is knocked out of service by something. Currently there is no way to know other than logging into the app to see if a camera is enabled.

I would love an option where arlo would remind me when my cameras are disarmed for a certain amount of time. I often disarm my cameras when I am out shoveling the drive way or mowing the lawn. I often forget to re-arm the cameras when I am done and miss recording activity. It would be great to have an option to have arlo send me a notification if my camera has been disarmed for more than X hours.

It would be nice if the "Record until activity stops" recording rule screen in the App had an extra setting that allowed me to set a period of time to continue recording after activity is no longer detected. If activity is detected again before this period of time elapses, then the timer is reset and Arlo continues recording.
This should help cut down on the total number of videos captured even if the videos are slightly longer. Likewise, serial alerts when something continues to come in and out of frame will also be reduced.

Really need to customize the notification sound. For instance, I want to be alerted to motion on some cameras while sleeping, but the notification sound is not enough to do that because it is too brief and I just sleep right through it. Would be nice to select an mp3, or at least provide some more aggressive options for alerts. Perhaps even per camera custom sounds, as one can do with ringtones for different contacts.

You already have an option to create trigger zones, why not add one to create 'ignore zones'.
I have one tree outside our house that triggers the camera constantly in the wind. the only way to stop it making 30+ recordings in a day is to turn the sensitivity down but then I miss actual events. It would be good to just highlight the tree and say ignore this thing...

Hi,
I am genuinely excited to see geolocation and IFTTT has been implemented, and yes I know its still 'Beta' but while it is still work in progress i would like to suggest a couple of improvements....
1) You need to support multiple devices. it makes no sense to have the cameras arm as I leave for work, only to get tons of videos of my wife leaving 10 minutes later.
You need to check for all devices to be out of the area before arming the cameras.
2) It should be possible to schedule 'geolocation' control.
Currently geolocation cannot be included in the schedule, which means i need to change the mode manually if like me you set them on during the night when you go to bed.
3) IFTTT - support 'custom' modes.
Currently you can only choose the standard armed or disarmed modes, you need to include for custom modes as well as being able to select gelolocation mode..
This would mean you could use the 'do' trigger to change mode quickly, helping to ease the pain of issue 2.
Overall though i have to say i am impressed with the additional functionality, but please Netgear, keep us informed of what you are working on!!!!
Kind Regards
Nick

It would be great if you could turn off the "Leave a Message" feature of the doorbell.
This could also be Geo-fence based?

Arlo needs a subscription plan that bills once a year. I work for a business that is using Arlo camera setups for monitoring of different job locations. There should be a discounted annual plan, or even if not discounted, there should be a plan that you could pay 1 x a year in advance so you don't have a recurring monthly bill/charge to a company credit card. This seems like a basic option that would cater to business subscribers. I was told by support they do not have annual plans. I did not see that as an option through the web page for managing subscriptions, which is why I called support.

Hi there,
there is a product that I nearly purchased, sent to me from iPhone magazine, it's called "Skybell WIFI Doorbell"
Which is obviously a doorbell with a camera that communicates with your router & smartphone, and not only can you see the person, you can talk to them too. Plus it was waterproof. I thought I really want something like that, but what stopped me buying it was it was not totally wireless like the Arlo systems I have bought. It needs to connect to a physical power source, not battery powered, so given that total wireless was the main reason for my netgear Arlo purchases, I couldn't buy that doorbell system.
I really hope that Netgear and their Arlo team come to up with something similar, as I would definitely buy one if it was available.
Cheers
Ross

We shouldn't have to eject them and manually find the videos to watch. They should be accessible remotely as well via mobile apps.

Here's the deal;
This is my WiFi *indoors*, if I go outside it's even more and stronger signals. It amazes me that this Arlo system even uses WiFi when it offers is no manual control whatsoever, which I obviously expected it to offer, because, well, it's from NETGEAR!? All your equipment offers the user settings and full config and control, yet when it counts (to protect and secure our home reliably) it just doesn't?? WTF is that about? Please netgear, explain this to me. I demand the option to set the channel the base-station uses.
To be honest I didn't even expect it to use 2.4 GHz WiFi. Why did you pick that? Since it's proprietary anyway, why not use some unused frequencies? WHY WHY WHY?
Seriously, I'm going to publish this fact everywhere I can, because if knew beforehand, I would never have paid so much for such a useless wifi distortion unit. I would *not* have bought it.
Second thing is the fact it's reliability fully relies on your internet being up (and wireless signals not being distorted purposely). I can just pull the phone-cable outdoor so the DSL is lost, I can even check the wireless band from my car for the netgear ssid (which is always the same) and then switch on a scrambler and rip the house blind.
This has got to be the most insecure system ever, there's no local backup option of the footage, no memory, nothing (I've tested it). Frankly, not at all what I expected from a big name like netgear. Your routers are OK, but this arlo hands-off cloud-only stuff blows. And then no Advanced config in the base-station? For crying out loud you guys, get that fixed channel setting in the firmware or I'll send my expensive arlo crap right back to the seller.

Hello,
It would be nice if there was a manual option to trigger all cameras to record until the user stops recording or the battery dies. Maybe add a button next to siren button to trigger all cameras. If I am away from home, and there is an intruder on my property, I would like to have the option to have all cameras rolling at once rather than waiting to detect motion. Thanks

Please modify your app to allow me to mute the notifications for 6 and 8 hours and not just the 1, 3, and 24 hours currently allowed. Some of us would like to mute it while we sleep but not have to remember to un-mute it in the morning like I need to do if I mute it for 24 hours which is the only currently useable option for sleeping all night.

I get alerts that there is motion occurring. I have a camera at my front door. There are no windows, and I would like to know who is ringing my doorbell. It would be nice to have the option to have an image sent with the alert. It takes awhile to open the app and play the video. I guess a snapshot or delayed live stream accessible with one click would do it. Using iOS.

On my system I get false positives on detected motion all of the time. The sad part is that the camera is watching over a large empty field. I would love to see some type of marker on the video showing what the camera has detected. This would allow me to change the camera settings to

I know this is primarily a residential system, but we use Arlo in our small business and sometimes I have to search through hours of clips to find the right moment. It would make it extremely beneficial to be able to set a play speed (2x, 4x, 8x) to be able to quickly scan through recordings, then go frame by frame to capture the exact moment I want.
Being able to capture a still frame is great and adding some editing afterwards would be nice, too. Timestamps and some basic highlighting/2D drawings all would be a fairly easy addition and helpful in the right circumstance.
