Our installation will be very remote beach house. There is a need for mains failure detection in case intruder has deliberately switched of the power. This would be a nice sofware update feature.

Because of Arlo's excellent video quality and excellent field of view I am able to see most of a large room/outdoor area with one camera. Unfortunately this tends to minimize the effectiveness of the motion detection as the camera tends to be more centrally located and so it does not detect something/someone until it is halfway or more across the room/area if it detects it at all. This leaves users with the undesirable options of either compromising their camera placement to accomodate motion detection or using an entire camera exclusively as a motion detector with little to no useful function as a camera. This latter scenario is a situation for which the camera is over-qualified and overpriced. A separate motion sensor that would trigger the camera to start recording when someone enters the room/access point would alleviate this issue. It could also help with the issue that myself and others are having with lag in recording start time. The sensor could be placed further out from the camera when necessary so that it could trigger the camera to start recording earlier, accounting for the lag time and recording what users actually wanted recorded.
An additional sensor would not be something that would be required of all cameras and placements, but it would be useful for specific scenarios and even having two sensors at opposite inds of a room/area triggering one camera could be a useful setup. As it is though, it is relatively cost prohibitive to expand your system to do this as the cameras are the only sensor option and cost too much to be wasted on being merely a sensor. Additinally these "wasted" cameras eat into your allotment under the current subscription you have and could create additional cost to the user for an upgraded subscription. As it is, I am hesitant to expand my system (currently at 4 cameras), even though I would like to have greater coverage, because of the up front cost of the cameras not being used to their full potential combined with the monthly cost of the upgraded subscription. I would be far more willing to expand my system and upgrade my subscription if there were external sensors that would allow me to use my system effeciently and effectively like I want to without the inflated up front cost.
I could see how this could be achieved either through hardware development of sensors exclusively for Arlo or through software development of integration with already established systems which perform comlementary functions. With either one, if the price is right I'm in, if it stays as it is my expansion is stuck.

Can you add support with Amazon Key? Their system requires a camera to activate. There are 3 camera vendors that they support but none are Arlo. I have a WiFi deadbolt that works with Amazon key but I can’t register it. I don’t want to go and buy another camera for my front door.

I've experimented with several security cameras over the past few weeks, and Ring has the best alerting implementation BY FAR. When a motion alert is received from Ring, it leads directly to a Live View of the event. If you view the alert some time AFTER the event, it leads directly to the Recording of the event. I never precisely timed this, but if roughly 20 to 30 seconds had elapsed after the motion event occurred, Ring was smart enough skip the live view, and take you to the recording. This was MUCH more elegant and faster than what Netgear is doing now with Arlo.
Nest also has a nice alerting method that shows a short video clip of the event embedded in the alert itself. Apparently this has been previously suggested on this forum, and it is marked as coming soon...which is great!
I'm currently testing Blink XT as well as Arlo Pro 2. Arlo is SIGNIFICANTLY higher quality than Blink, but I am really surprised that I can get to the Blink event video faster than Arlo's. Blink's alert always leads directly to the event. No additional taps or logins. This still isn't better than Ring's method, but it shows that Netgear has some work to do.
If embedded alert videos are coming soon, then my suggestion is to blend this with the Ring implementation. If we view the alert quickly, send us directly to the Live View. If we view the alert later, send us to the Recording. No additional taps or delays. While you're at it, eliminate the constant login requirement. My phone is very secure already.

Having spoke to your Chairman and CEO on email they agree that this is a major problem for multiple camera users. Before the update A user could tell immediately by scrolling down and simply looking at their iPhone how much charge each of their cameras had left. Now to check out that data on 32 cameras I have to make 96 clicks (clicking the three dots then the device settings then the back arrow to see whether a battery needs replacing? Why would you do this? If you are going away for the week or two you need to replace or charge all batteries on Less than 40% / 50% you simply can’t wait for a notification on 15%. Why because you are not there. Simply scrolling you could tell which needed charging and didn’t have to click 96 times and if you forget or get distracted you have to do it all again. A massive oversight sonolease can you put this back. I also noticed last night a camera message came through telling me I only had 15% juice left yet it didn’t mention which of the 32 cameras it was? Again do I really need to make up to 96 clicks to check? Only this morning when a 10% message came through did it mention the exact camera and if I’m going out how can I charge it? Thanks

I have been using Arlo for the past 7 months. While the hardware is great the operation is very basic for the price. The below are concerns that should be addressed. 1. NAS storage While cloud storage is good for most people at this price point I would like the option to record locally to my nas and not be restricted by the need for an internet connection all the time. 2. Timeline search To be frank your method of searching is terrible. It's the worst I have seen as an IT pro. Instead of image blocks, why can't you use a time line showing a grey bar with green bars showing motion recording. This makes it easier for the user to search and scroll through recordings. 3. I use Exacq for my business and the motion detection works excellent. The Arlo's on the other hand misses a lot of data which at times could be vital to an investigation. 4. Customizable views. Arlo allows for only one view to be reviewed at a time. There should be an option to view any cameras at once. Example let's say I have 8 cameras with 4 being outside and I want to view/review the 2 in the front and 2 at the back during a party I would have to constantly switch, unlink Exacq where I would just need to select the 4 camera I want to view Thanks, SC

Each and every camera has a speaker for the PRO 2, why not create a patch file to enable the use of the siren through the camera speaker. If the owner has cameras setup around their house that would be a great outdoor deterrent

You already have an option to create trigger zones, why not add one to create 'ignore zones'.
I have one tree outside our house that triggers the camera constantly in the wind. the only way to stop it making 30+ recordings in a day is to turn the sensitivity down but then I miss actual events. It would be good to just highlight the tree and say ignore this thing...

To my understanding Arlo cameras measure temperature and even switch themselves off it the temperature drops below -20C
It would be very usefull to show this temperature measurement in camera status display in Arlo Live. Then you could for example monitor that heating of a remote building is working OK without any other sensors.
I would be also good to know if the temperature is approaching switch off point with outdoor cameras
I have Arlo Pro system with 3 outdoor cameras in Nothern Finland where temperature will drop below -30 C duirng winter time

We shouldn't have to eject them and manually find the videos to watch. They should be accessible remotely as well via mobile apps.

I believe that if the Arlo Pro could playback a pre-recorded message at the time of motion detection, it would add another effective level of deterrent. I for one am not able to speak "live" through my phone for all occurrances of a motion detection (could be in a meeting, showering, sleeping, etc). If the message can be along the lines of..."Hi! This is an Arlo Security Camera!" it would not be inappropriate for a wanted visitor (eg delivery man) and at the same time give notice to any unwanted visitor of the presence of a security camera, which is not always seen. When I woke up this morning I saw a motion detection event had occured at 3AM. My phone was on silent because...well...sleep is pretty damn important to me. I saw on the video a young man in all black clothing with a flashlight looking through the windows of my car on the driveway. He probably didn't notice the camera above him. Luckily I had just cleaned out my car, so there was nothing for the man to take, but if he had heard an automated message from the camera, I imagine he would have fled immediately and not even look inside the car.

Only allowing the ability to create a motion detection zone if the pro 2 is hardwired totally defeats the point of Arlo wireless cameras. If I wanted to hardwire I’d choose the Nest. I think there should be a software upgrade to allow the ability to make the zones while running wireless even if it sacrifices battery life.

So imagine you're asleep, and there's a prowler on your property. You don't hear the mobile phone alert, and you're asleep so you can't use the two-way mic to alert the burglar that they're being watched.
It would be great if a pre-recorded message could auto play from the camera's microphone when motion is detected to alert the burglar. Customize this so the voice would only play when the camera is armed and motion is detected between the hours of x and y.
The feature to upload your own pre-recorded voice is already available on Arlo baby monitor, so it shouldn't be too difficult to enable this on the range of Arlo security cameras too?
Also, can you PLEASE increase the two-way mic volume on the Arlo Pro cameras itself? They're not loud enough.

Add a feature that allows us to see what sensitivity levels are being hit when recordings take place. I am forever struggling to adjust the sinsitivity of the camers on the outside of my house.
When a recording is made it wouldbe good to know what sinsitivty % was hit so I can tell what level a tree moving in the wind vs a car driving down the street vs a person walking along th epath is and fine tune it.
I know I can sort of do this in the motion detection test but I then have to be outside where I can see the blue led and wait for these actions to occur, very hard to reproduce!
Would be good to see the actual % number stored alongside the recording that was made, and even better the realtime percentage during the whole recording length. I regularly get a recording of someone pulling up in a car but once they stop and the person gets out the recording stops. So obviously I need to up the setting to get that person walking but by how much? Trial and error is infuriating..

Lets get the app updated so the Alexa can speak the Alro's motion detection alerts. I appreciate the phone notifications, BUT if I'm in my home walking around I normally don't have my phone on me and would like to be vocally notified if there's motion detected around the outside of my home without having to go through lengthy IT "hacks" to get Alexa to vocalize the detection. I believe it would be a beneficial and a great way to upsell your system. Hoping this gets added soon

I have somewhat unreliable internet that sometimes drops out for 5 minutes then comes back.
My concern is that an intruder my break into my house during that downtime, or at least do some reconnaisance.
I'd like any records that only went to USB not cloud, during the downtime, to be uploaded to the cloud once internet is restored.
This would stop me having to periodically check the USB to look for suspicious activity.
The software implementation would just have to record what was the lastest file uploaded and the latest file saved. When internet was detected, it could periodically check if saved > uploaded, and uploaded until uploaded = saved.

now that ios 12 is beta, and the siri shortcuts app is also being tested by select devs, it would be a great time to start making a number of actions accessible from this new platform. Siri shortcuts will be able to preform powerful deep automated actions in apps who allow it with a simle predetermined command. Lets get on this!
hey siri (dis)arm arlo.
hey siri snooze arlo for.. 15, 30, 60 mins..
hey siri sound the alarm!
hey siri how are my arlo batteries?
hey siri im home.. opens garage, turn on select lights & thermostat and disarms arlo.
any other great ideas?

I am unable to power several cameras I own so these features are not physically possible at the moment. I'm hoping these features will eventually be availble for nonwired cameras in the future via firmware upgrade. Even an announcement that this is planned on being developed will put my mind at ease and ensure that Arlo cares about the limitations and concerns of their customers.

I am practically giving you the solution to your customer's heavily requested and valuable feature. Due to intense processing required to monitor so called "activity zones" you currently do not allow this feature in battery operated mode. I propose you allow activity zone configuration, and trigger the camera on motion detection, the same way you currently operate. The video feed goes out to the base station as usual. However, the main difference is that you do not push a notification or save the recording to the server *yet* -- your software processes the first few frames of the video to see if the activity zone was triggered, continues processing as you see fit to determine if any of the motion captured falls within the trigger zone. If you don't find anything, you discard the video (or let the user review it later, without notifiactions). If you have a good indicators that you caught something within the activity zone, great. You push the notification and keep recording/processing. If this is too complex, at least provide your customers with the option, and expose the limitation that setting up a "battery-powered" activity zone is not as robust or instant as the standard always-powered option. This is a happy compromise. I absolutely welcome your communication if you need any proof of concept help or implementation approach.
