Motion detection on only part of the view without sacrificing any of the screen

To explain this I am going to use a living room as an example.

The way it currently is set:

Put the camera in the corner of the room and catch the entire room - Fantastic!

Anyone walks into the view, it records - Fantastic!

Now say there is a glass on a table in the middle of the room.

I can "crop" or "zoom in" on the table and the camera will shoot only that, so if someone touches the glass it records, but it only shows the table.

What I want: Show the entire room - BUT - only put the motion detection on the table, so the entire room is in the camera view but the recording only happens if someone is in the table view. This way I can see where the person went, who the person was, etc instead of potentially just the hand grabbing the glass.

Narrowing the field of vision for the motion detector while being able to view the full capability of the the camera panorama would be great and an essential feature.

I have an Arlo Pro with the 130 degree field of vision aimed from the side toward my front door.  If I position my camera to maximize the use of the 130 degree camera view, everytime a car goes by on the street (50 ft from my front door) the camera records.  To narrow the motion detection triggering, I have had to restrict the position of the camera so that it "sees" a lot of the brick wall thus creating about a 30 degree camera field of vision and forgoing the additional 100 degree capability of the camera.

Also I'd like the idea to exclude areas such as the road

Another very good idea.

Please Netgear implement it for all Arlo cameras

Lack of activity zones is the only thing that prevented me from clicking Purchase this morning on the Arlo Pro system.  I found zones to be an absolute necessity with a previous, cobbled-up camera/dvr system I used.  Netgear has a great thing going with Arlo, hopefully the activity zones will be implemented soon or at least provide some sort of official announcement that, if someone buys an Arlo Pro system today, they will be able to get activity zones on it in the reasonably near future.

Hi

This is technically impossible as the camra is not using the camera view to detect motion.

The camera is using the infrared technology to detect an object that is warmer. This will trigger the motion sensor that will turn on the camera.

The Arlo Wire free and Pro are using the same motion detection technology.

If you want this get the Arlo Q camera and use Zones

Fledgling

What has been done for camrea detecting motion , even the postal person has already walked almost out of range by time camera comes on? not good poor for catching someone..

Absolutely. Ring and Ring stickup cams offer motion zones. This is the one major downside to this camera for me.

Yes please add this motion sensor settings because my cameras pick up vehicles going down the road when it can barely see it and I have tried everything from changing the sensor sensitivity and moving the camera but no matter what it still see just a small part of the road and it sets it out countless times to the point were I almost want to return this unit at times. Thank God for costco they will return it up to two years later if this ain't fixed I gotta do something else cause all my storage is cars driving down and up the road noting to do with my parking lot and I've also noticed that the main sections I want to detected don't even get detected sometimes. People get by which really is agitating I mean God for bid I do have a break in and it doesn't pick up there faces out front I'm screwed

I am getting so many false alerts that I have to turn my cameras off. That is with sensitivity set to One.
All seems like a good system until it is installed.

This is basically essential for my location. Just recently purchased & mounted today for driveway and ft door. Live on a corner, and to prevent false street triggers view is so reduced the frame can't capture both driveway & ft door sidewalk.  Received multiple false notices due to street, remained several times and lowering to an almost useless camera view... but still a small section with street. I tried the crop set in camera setup thinking this would reduce the trigger zone, but it only changed & zoomed the view. This feature is one of the major benifits of a POE camera system, but would much rather use the battery powered cameras. Hopefully this will be announced soon, before my return period expires.
