Arlo|Smart Home Security|Wireless HD Security Cameras

Apple HomeKit

To integrate arlo into the Apple Home Kit would be a great improvement.

Now I have a great camera system with an app, a weather station with an app and some other sensors in the Apple home kit and they do not work together.

E.g. an alarm could be triggered by the motion sensor of the camera or the camera could be switched on by a door or windows sensor even if the motion sensor is not activated because the object is too far away and so on. There are a lot of possibilities with connecting the systems.

Is this planned to do?

i think its obvious that a lot if people would buy this, with the removal of withings, theres now only one possible way for homekit cameras with the Dlink tube thing, which is horrible if you are looking for something arlo-type (or nestcam), but it works.

I hope the business case for this is positive.

I believe having Arlo integrate with Apple HomeKit would improve the security of the device, show users that Arlo is security-centric, and improve usability for consumers who use HomeKit.

Nice spot!

Although from the comments on reddit, quite a few of those featured have never delivered. I guess it just confirms they are talking to Apple. Which is good.

True. Birdi is still on that list even though it's basically proven to be vaporware.

Also - a lot of homes are being built with "HomeKit package". By adding HomeKit integration to Arlo, these cameras could potentially be included in that HomeKit Package.

Time is running out, Arlo

Logitech has just announced Circle 2, with HomeKit coming as a software update. I've yet to buy any camera solution, as I am waiting for HomeKit integration as my primary buying consideration. If Circle 2 HomeKit software update comes along before Arlo's HomeKit solution, I will be going with Logitech.

No pressure... Smiley Wink

@PBA And Circle 2 doesn't need a base station.

I love my Arlo, the 1 thing I was disappointed about was no homekit I'm glad it looks like we are getting support.

I have been doing a ton of research on this subject, I don't think we will see HomeKit until iOS 11 drops. Seems the hardware chip was needed until iOS 11 and the new tvOS. I could see Netgear waiting until then to do a software deployment or update so we don't have to buy a new base station. I hope they don't forget about the iOS and tvOS beta testers who will rant and rave about arlo being on HomeKit. Sales will skyrocket., first major camera SYSTEM on HomeKit.
