Is speaker really needed?

Was wondering when they make a new camera will they continue to still have the two way talk feature? I would like to keep the microphone so I can record all conversation going on if a crime is happening. If I want to talk to them , I am sure I would have a better reception 1v1 call on the phone then on camera. Does anyone else feel they would just call on the phone to talk instead of using the camera?
