Getting ARLO working on R7000 in AP mode

I've been a beta tester in the Arlo R7000 wire-free project, and now it has finally entered the market i was hoping Netgear added a feature, but this doesn't seem to be the case.

My issue/wish:

I want to use the R7000 in AP-mode, and still use the camera's.

As confirmed by a few other people the camera's cannot sync with the R7000 base-station when it is in AP-mode. My best guess is that the R7000 uses a custom DHCP option or DNS-record that doesn't exist when in AP-mode. I have a router that is capable of creating custom DHCP options and static host mappings so IF my guess is correct, i could setup the R7000 and still be able to use the camera's.

Could anyone from techsupport enlighten why the camera's don't work when the R7000 is in AP mode?

I'm sure i'm not the only one who has found this little annoyance. (link)
