Custom alert sounds for Android/iOS

Really need to customize the notification sound.  For instance, I want to be alerted to motion on some cameras while sleeping, but the notification sound is not enough to do that because it is too brief and I just sleep right through it.  Would be nice to select an mp3, or at least provide some more aggressive options for alerts.  Perhaps even per camera custom sounds, as one can do with ringtones for different contacts.

@SandraB

The previous post you mentioned was how long ago? I can only see you have made two posts to date. I don’t have an agenda, only to clarify in my mind the behaviour of the forum moderators is as you suggest.

The post that was created about a Facebook page about Arlo was created on June 5th. I have a screenshot from an email alert I received about it.

Arlo needs to fix this with Apple. BETTER collaboration needs done with Apple. It made me switch from Apple to the Android system.

I’ve had a response from Arlo!

I think the first time we’ve heard from them on the issue of notification sounds on IOS. It’s a start!

See the screen grab of the response on our Facebook group. Search on Facebook for ‘Arlo Smart Home - The Truth’.

@Canceo 1999

Yes I found the email subscription, it was posted to this thread 52 minutes earlier.

So this points to some policy that the moderators follow regarding Facebook links. I wonder if  the policy is documented or the moderators are following their own agenda.

Fledgling

I join the online frustration with netgear and their inability to address customers needs...I've seen posts dating back to 2017 addressing my issue about not being able to change or most impotantly turn up the volume so that when I'm asleep to hear the alert. It is riduculous and short sided of netgear to have not addressed this issue of having outdoor cameras and when you expect them to alert you at night you cannot hear the notification smdh. After 2 weeks of frustration it is time to return the system and would advise anyone reading this that has an iphone to reconsider your purchase.

Hi all. I am putting together a press story on the issue and I need someone with tech knowledge/tech speak to provide me with details of exactly what we need Arlo to do and why it currently doesn’t work. It would also be helpful if anyone can compare with other products that work fine on IOS.

I work in communications so can do the story writing and raising the profile, but I must be on solid ground with my facts when I do this so there are no holes.

Secondly I need real examples of where the sound restriction has caused concern or danger by not alerting you to an intruder.

Can you help? All I need is the detail, I will do the rest and it will be published under my name. Don’t publish anything on here as I don’t want to give away the detail piecemeal. Just let me know you are interested or PM me. Thanks. S.

@SandraB i can tell you that on June 2nd we had an intruder trying to break in. First off the camera didn’t pick up the entire scenario, 2nd the notification didn’t come through on time, and 3rd it never woke us up because I have an iPhone and the alert sound was to quiet. Had it been loud enough we would have been able to catch who was at our house. Hope this helps some

Would it possible to have notification sound on iOS to be customisable so when we get a motion alert come through we’ll know without looking that it’s from Arlo rather than the standard notification sound from iOS which could be anything.

Also if the notification could be applied so that it can bypass the ‘do not disturb’ feature on iOS so that you would only be woken up if there was an alert at night and not by other unnecessary notifications. Maybe asking too much? If man can travel to the moon....

It would be good to know that Arlo take their forums seriously if they sort this out. If Arlo employees actually used their security system themselves in their own homes they would realise this would be a very useful feature.

Thank you.
