Battery Percentage Indicator While Offline

I wanted to charge 3 batteries while I was at work so I brought one of my cameras to my work place (I don't have a separate charging station yet). I was able to monitor the battery percentage until I made a stupid mistake. I tried turning the camera on so naturally it went offline as the base station was at home. That was the end of my being able to see the battery percentage indicator. This need to stay on because it would be useful to monitor battery progress even while offline. If there's another way of seeing it that I don't know of please let me know.
