Arlo Doorbell camera

Hi there,

there is a product that I nearly purchased, sent to me from iPhone magazine, it's called "Skybell WIFI Doorbell"

Which is obviously a doorbell with a camera that communicates with your router & smartphone, and not only can you see the person, you can talk to them too. Plus it was waterproof. I thought I really want something like that, but what stopped me buying it was it was not totally wireless like the Arlo systems I have bought. It needs to connect to a physical power source, not battery powered, so given that total wireless was the main reason for my netgear Arlo purchases, I couldn't buy that doorbell system.

I really hope that Netgear and their Arlo team come to up with something similar, as I would definitely buy one if it was available.

Cheers

Ross

I'd love to see a Doorbell camera to go along with the Arlo Pro!!!!

I'm looking to purchase the Arlo Pro 2 exterior system.... but is there a compatible Doorbell-Camera that would work with the system?  I'd prefer to streamline and keep it all in the same app if possible.  Thanks in advance

Would like to suggest or know when will you be coming out with a Doorbell version of your Arlo Pro cameras ..it would give a much better view of person approaching...

This thread started two years ago (Feb 2016) and Netgear still has nothing available. Odd.

I'm another user who woiuld like a doorbell camera that would work with the Arlo system. We have the current camera mounted high to keep it from getting stolen, but it does not capture faces very well (plus it is a PITA to change the batteries -- have to get the ladder out and then fuss with re-aiming the camera every time.) A doorbell cam would be perfect.

I do not understand why there is still no integrated doorbell option.  I have seen other posts which go back several years and nothing - if Netgear/Arlo isnt interested in producing a doorbell option could they just say so.  Its pretty simple - just fess up they have no interest and everyone who hasnt already can go spend our money on someone elses system.

Definitely go to the existing idea and add kudos if you haven't already

Recently I desired a doorbell camera since my front door was the only part of the outside of my home not covered by my Arlo Pro cameras and USPS always leaves the packages at the front door in plain sight of the entire planet without ringing the doorbell.  Gotta love USPS....no you don't!!!  All other normal delivery companies leave the packages by my Arlo Pro monitored carport door usually out off everyones sight and ring the doorbell.  After much research I was down to either a Ring Doorbell Pro or another Arlo Pro camera.  The additional Arlo Pro camera won out for the following reasons:

1. The Ring Doorbell Pro involved another app on several devices to use, learn, and eat up device power.

2.  Arlo Pro was a system in place already.  No additional apps, no learning curve for the family, and no extra power being consumed by another app in the background and applies the KISS principle of keeping it simple stupid.

3.  The Ring Required yearly cloud storage fees and provided no local storage.

4.  Arlo Pro cloud storage free for 7 days and I have a large flash drive hooked up to my Arlo base for local video storage.

5.  By placing the Arlo Pro looking mostly down I can see any package at the front door and about 15 foot into my front yard.  This also allows for a high motion sensitivity level guaranteeing the Arlo Pro will be active by anyone approaching the front door.

6.  I live on a dead end street so I only need to actually answer my front door about once every three months and rarely need to actually talk to someone.  Talking to someone at my front door via the Arlo Pro works well enough for me since it will be so rare.  Most people go to my carport door and I normally know every one of them.

We just purchased the Arlo Pro system a few weeks ago and we love it so far. It's funny that I signed up to the community because I had the same though of an Arlo doorbell camera accessory.  We just had our first package delivered to our front door since installing the system, and noticed that it is really difficult to get a facial recognition based on the location and angle of the camera. The image is great but since you need to place the camera on a unreachable location, unless you look towards the camera, the quality of a facial shot is not that great.

That made me think that having a camera on the doorbell that looks straight forward could be a great feature. For people with arlo systems it doesn't even need to have the motion detection since most likely you already have a camera on your front door.

I'm glad to see that this has been suggested already. I think it will a great addition to the Arlo products portfolio.
