HI. I have an Arlo wired doorbell on my kitchen door with the Power Kit installed to my chime. I also have a regular push button doorbell on my front door. I have a typical three terminal mechanical hammer type chime. The push button, when pressed, results in the common Ding Dong sound, but the Arlo when pressed just results in a Ding sound with no Dong.

 

I upgraded my 16v 10VA transformer to a Maxdot 16V 30VA transformer https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GND8RMQ?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details thinking that my transformer was under powered, and it did make the Arlo led lights brighter, but no change in the chime.

 

Does anyone know why this would happen?

Have you checked that the doorbell chime setting is set to mechanical?

I have.Its set to Mechanical chime in the app. Maybe I have the power kit attached to the wrong leads in the chime? I'll try re ersing them

I have the same issue! Just connected the wires to my Arlo and I get a ding, but no dong.

The way my mechanic bell works is that if you cross the wires you get the ding, and when you open that circuit it goes dong. Somehow Arlo does not release after the ding. This is bad because this means that the mechanical chime keeps being powered all the time in the ding without returning to normal.

Any solutions?

I believe this could also happen if the circuit is closed for too short a time.  FWIW, if the chime is always fully powered, then pressing the doorbell a second time wouldn't result in it ringing.

 

Do you have a meter?  If you do, you could measure the voltage across the two wires at the doorbell after you ring it.

 

 

if you have a subscription, I suggest using the support options in the app.  That should include a phone option.

Thank you for the quick answer! I do not have a meter at hand, unfortunately. 

 

You are right about the release thing: I do not get any more dings nor dongs after the initial one. To make it clear: I get only one ding after I install the Arlo doorbell and press the button on it, and after that nothing ever happens with the mechanical chime when pressing the button. When I disconnect the Arlo doorbell, I get the dong because the mechanical chime loses voltage and gets released.

 

I will call the support!
