the doorbell came w/ the doorbell, mounting plate, and optional side mounting plate.  They packaged the doorbell and mounting plate already assembled and I do not have the strength in my fingers to sperate it.

Is there a trick I should know of to get these apart??

There is a release pin tool in the packaging - a flat metal disk with a wire extension.  You stick that into a release hole on the bottom of the doorbell.

If you can't find the tool, you can use a bent paperclip instead.

THANK YOU SO MUCH - THAT DID THE TRICK!!!!!!

I read that to be a "reset" pin - didnt think to even look to use it for release.

Thank you for the solution.  It would be helpful for those directions to be included in the Quick Start Pamphlet.
