Correct. As long as you have local storage enabled on your VMB5000: https://kb.arlo.com/000062818/How-do-I-set-up-local-storage-backups-using-my-Arlo-SmartHub-or-Base-S...

ok, as long as ARLO fixes these outstanding show-stopper issues with the app, I might consider getting 1 for myself.
What issue are we talking about?
- automation leave and automation arrive not working all the time (sometimes they do). Context: 2 devices = android + iPhone. Both apps with "Feed". Both devices logging in the same account. No subscription but SmartHub as local storage.
Many thanks.

I see it’s now compatible with a smart base, but is it still not Apple Home compatible?

I would also like to request an update to the compatibility with HomeKit issue.

Hi there,
How many times does the doorbel-led of the Arlo Video Doorbell (2nd gen) flash on detection before it stops.
In my case its stops after two pulsating(heartbeat) flashes. After that it stays dark and the doorbell is hard to find in the dark and operate by the visitor. Is that normal or is there a malfunction.

HaBo10,
This sounds like normal behavior. Once the doorbell detects motion again, it should start pulsing again.

Following up on HomeKit - any word on compatibility? My Doorbell 2nd generation connects to the base station after the firmware update but still doesn’t show up when I connect that base station to HomeKit.

Same here. Successfully added my doorbell to the smart hub, but the doorbell still doesn’t show up in HomeKit…

Because it's not compatible with homekit yet.
None of the Gen2 camera models are in the "applies to" list here:

@JamesC wrote:Base Station/SmartHub compatibility is now available for Arlo 2nd generation devices. For those that already have your Arlo 2nd generation device onboarded, you will need to remove the device from your Arlo account and re-onboard to see the option to sync with your Base Station/SmartHub. The following firmware or newer is required for this integration.

Arlo Video Doorbell 2nd Generation - AVD3001 / AVD4001 – Firmware: 1.5.0_1059_eb10395
Compatible Base Station/SmartHub:
Base Station VMB4000 – Firmware: 1.25.0.1_4591_0201bb2
Base Station VMB4500 – Firmware: 1.25.0.1_4541_0201bb2

SmartHub VMB5000 – Firmware: 1.25.0.1_1762_0201bb2
hi @james , can I confirm that AVD2001B-100AUS (I guess it is Essential video doorbell?) is NOT supported and so NOT compatible with SmartHub VMB5000? (the doorbell is NOT on your list)

This announcement thread is focussed on the Gen 2 doorbells. The AVD2001 is a first gen doorbell model, and was therefore not included.
But it is fully compatible with the VMB5000:
