Just got a notification that the subscription of the Arlo Secure Plan is being increased yet again. What I find appaling is the fact that the company tries to justify the price increase with all these new features yet the increase for the monthly subscription option is a significant $8/month unless you want to pay for a full year in advance which is what many companies are doing to lock you in. I remember just a couple of years ago I was paying $9.99/mo which will now be double for the same quality equipment I can get with many of their competitors. So, what I will do instead is cancel my subscription and trash the cameras and switch to something better and more reasonable priced. This is not to offer the end users more features but to price gouge and be greedy.

Thank you all for the feedback. On January 3rd Arlo has updated subscription plans and pricing to enhance the Arlo Secure experience, doubling cloud video storage, and making new AI-powered capabilities available to all subscribers in the US. We have simplified into two plans to allow you to easily identify which features are right for your security needs.
For more information on the new Arlo Secure plans, available now, see https://www.arlo.com/en-us/arlosecure.html

Everyone should cancel their subscription . I did . they cannot survive without us . I'd rather throw $1500 of cameras in the trash than be extorted by these scammers. they barely work anyway . what a joke. everyone cancel . they will lower the price.

I don't care if they do lower the price. I'm already gone.

I canceled my Arlo Secure Plan for the same reasons. The price hikes over the past two years have been steep, especially this one, and without meaningful new features to justify the cost just pushed me over the edge. There are plenty of competitors offering comparable or better options at a fraction of the price. Companies that prioritize short-term profits over long-term customer loyalty rarely win in the end.

Not happy with Arlo’s new money grab. I have had Arlo cameras at 2 locations in 2 different cities. Prior to having to upgrade to the new app, I could set geofencing so that the applicable system would detect if I were present and switch from “Armed” to “Unarmed”. With new app, you can only declare 1 geofencing site that controls both locations UNLESS you pay for a second plan at the second location - effectively DOUBLING the monthly cost of having Arlo cameras. Now I have to consider finding a new camera provider that won’t require duplicate monthly plans for multiple geofencing sites. Very disappointed with Arlo’s money grab.

I too had the $12.99 plan. It might not sound like much to some but raising to @$19.99 per mo. for 60days cloud storage (which I won't use) 7 days is more than enough for me. I just wanted simple home security at a decent price!

The pricing increases are ridiculous, if not predatory.
I can dump my current Arlo cameras and buy some new ones for less than the $240 I will pay a year for what I have now. Once I do this, I will never buy any product associated with Arlo.

And that is what they are banking on,
They want people to hold on for a bit longer then In Time you will forget or show some leanancy and then they will raise it again...
It's a never ending cycle once it starts

That's not the issue here. The issue is that the cost is going up and the quality is going down.

Hey, at least you received notice!!!!!!!!!!!!
It would be nice to receive a monthly/yearly invoice via email, or be able to see it online on your account - NOPE, they just charge you monthly/yearly.
When I saw the price change on my card, it took me a good week or so to figure out I can only "chat" with "someone" in customer service, there IS NOT a phone number.
I was told "you need to look at your email" well, I get over 200 emails a day between personal, work and spam emails, I delete them daily, there is no way to retrieve one that was deleted over two months ago.
Then they kept hounding me to pay for a year's worth of service, they'd give me a discount code that would give me 30% discount, when I didn't answer right away I was then offered a 50% discount!!!
Guess what - never received the discount code!!!!
As for the reason they increased the cost --- I don't use the "know who's here" or the "package has been delivered" I want to be able to see who is driving past my house, not AFTER they have passed the camera!!!! Or the person that is walking up my driveway so slowly the camera does not activate!!!! Fix those issues because I'm not paying an additional $14.99 A CAMERA for CVR when I have three cameras!!!!
Now that I have made contact with the "chat bot" I keep getting Action Required emails three in a two minute time frame, but none of the links work!!!! And the directions, don't work, keep me going in circles.
SO - I canceled my plan.

I went to Eufy. I've had them for two months. They have more features than my old Arlo cameras, they were cheap, and have better video quality and no subscription fees.

Arlo assume we live in the Arlo app and need more and more ways to look at our houses. I’m not expecting nth Korea to invade any time soon and have heard every sales pitch about what might happen. I’m moving to my Smart Garage Door opening company which has cameras for inside and out, with cheaper subscriptions (maybe because their core products; garage door solutions, cost a lot and cameras are an augmentation of their core product not the Product itself self)

It seems Arlo have not listened to their users and done necessary changes to their new app. This, combined with price increase, has left me to the choice of moving to another brand. I've already bought secondhand Eufycams and will receive a doorbell this week, and will cancel the Arlo subscription.
The unfortunate developments left me to not recommend the Arlo system any longer. After several years of Arlo cams use, last year I got the Arlo doorbell and my app was "updated". That was the beginning of the end.
Again, I think it's unfortunate that they chose this path.

I was already considering leaving when the new app totally screwed up my use cases, but this major price hike was what broke the camel's back. I ended my subscription and I'm now looking for a replacement.

It should've been a hardware company first and foremost, not a subscription service, which I feel they have become now.
I like the model for the Eufy ecosystem where I don't have to pay any subscription.

I agree. I've been testing out the Eufy and it has been wonderful. I don't know why Arlo thinks they can charge that crazy price but their hardware and software is definitely not that great.

Sadly, I think their time as a hard company first died when they separated from Netgear.
The lifetime 7 day video recording, for example, was a great feature touted from Netgear. Arlo wants to drop this now and is EOLing cameras to achieve that.

Yes, 7 days would be more than sufficient for my use, and would even pay $10-15 per year for this basic feature. But not $15 per month.
I received the secondhand Eufy Doorbell 2k today and replaced it for the Arlo.
This means I'm sunsetting my sub and Arlo cams in my house/property and at the cabin.
I will monitor this thread for a while anyway.

Actually they cancelled my 1y prepaid subscription after I added new cameras a few months ago, and I just found about it today when my cameras stopped working.
