Just got a notification that the subscription of the Arlo Secure Plan is being increased yet again. What I find appaling is the fact that the company tries to justify the price increase with all these new features yet the increase for the monthly subscription option is a significant $8/month unless you want to pay for a full year in advance which is what many companies are doing to lock you in. I remember just a couple of years ago I was paying $9.99/mo which will now be double for the same quality equipment I can get with many of their competitors. So, what I will do instead is cancel my subscription and trash the cameras and switch to something better and more reasonable priced. This is not to offer the end users more features but to price gouge and be greedy.

Thank you all for the feedback. On January 3rd Arlo has updated subscription plans and pricing to enhance the Arlo Secure experience, doubling cloud video storage, and making new AI-powered capabilities available to all subscribers in the US. We have simplified into two plans to allow you to easily identify which features are right for your security needs.
For more information on the new Arlo Secure plans, available now, see https://www.arlo.com/en-us/arlosecure.html

What’s everyone’s thought on the recently announced price hike here in the states? I can’t justify my package going up $84 a year for absolutely no reason. The cameras barely work! Notifications are lagged, or sometimes the camera misses whole people who are coming up to the door. Yet, they want to change so much more? This increase will force me to have to cancel and find a different option for security.

Sooo many reasons to drop this poor excuse for a company. This latest money grab is the worst. Not just raise but to skyrocket the increase by over 50% is ridiculous. What increase in service are they offering other than double storage. Big fn deal. How about giving back local storage. 3 base stations, 6 pro 2 , 2 ultra 2’s , 2 wired doorbells on top of not being able to add my super scary MIL who moved in recently unless I upgrade to your Gen 2 app that by all accounts is horrible. Anyone remember the Netgear days? My search for Poe cameras begins today! I will do the annual payment for one year since it’s totaling what I’m currently paying and it gives me time to get my ducks in a
row but IM DONE!

Same here… was forced to buy a subscription for different cameras. Cameras lose connection; activity zones are worthless; and not interested in the other garbage. Wish I would just have the old way back…. 7 days recording to my base units and be done with this monthly garbage. At $150 a year, (already paid 150 for the last 2 years) plus the cost of the cameras and hubs - figured 8’ve spent well over $1500 all in…. Could have purchased a normal camera system. Off to start the research…. Won’t be renewing.

Agree completely. None of those new "features" are worth another $85/year. It's simply a money grab, and a coerced 'upgrade'. The email is classic FUD - if you don't agree, then the price will jump right now. I'm wondering what other terms are in there that we have to agree to (i.e. do they force us to allow them to use our videos to train their AI).
Darned glad I didn't upgrade the cameras this season like I'd considered. Hopefully Apple comes out with their rumored devices this year, because it'll be the last year I ever own Arlo's.

And yep - this is in the new TOS: "If your Arlo Service utilizes facial recognition, object recognition, and other artificial intelligence capabilities then Arlo may capture digital images, videos, sounds, and use information provided by your Arlo system. Arlo automatically may compare these captured images and sounds to databases of stored records. You explicitly agree that such data and other biometric or environmental data may be captured by your Arlo system and used and analyzed by the Arlo Service, but Arlo employees do not view your private images or private videos without your permission."
I'm going to look for a replacement system now, one that uses Apple Secure video and actually respect user privacy.

Looks like a new Eufy system with a couple of the S340 cameras will do the job. No subscription and no BS.

The new Eufy ones don't use homekit, and the cellular doesn't work with it either.
I may just bite the bullet, renew for one year and hope that Apple releases something at WWDC. But one way or another, this is definitely my last year with Arlo.
One things for sure, I won't miss the horrible enclosures that are impossible to open to change the battery. Worst design ever.

Yep, I'm also canceling. 250% increase in the past 12 months for a single camera plan. Don't need or want any of these new features either.

I just got their special offer email too! Are they serious? I’m also about to cancel because it’s not clear if I can just keep my old plan at $150 and not choose the upgrade? I would do that. In fact, my Arlo page says the old automatic renewal is set for $150, but their offer email says the automatic upgrade will be the updated system for $150 first year, then increase in cost next year? How perfectly ambiguous! Are they kidding? Their users are not morons. I just want to keep my old plan at same price. CAN I JUST DO THAT ARLO?

So, we have been forced into a new app filled with bugs and reduced functionality. Took away all the flexibility of current customers. New cameras are forcing users to buy the secure plan to view recordings. Now I get an email saying you want to raise monthly cost by 50%???. Your new app is so bad you should be reducing cost! But 50% increase is a slap in my face. After investing many $ you now want more $??? For what?? What we have today is worthless and certainly not a reliable security system.
i am feed up with Arlo forcing me into using a poor product and now expecting me to pay more when they aren’t delivering a service worth even the previous fee. You are ripping me off and I’m done. I will replace all my cameras within the next year and be done with this company. How dare you!!!

I will be cancelling my Arlo plan. This company doesn’t realize that we just want a good product without any fancy features like AI bull****. Cut the crap. You’re a security camera company, not Google. You can keep costs low by focusing on the basics instead of empire building.

Arlo has been my most disliked service I've used. And while my basic needs with it and the hardware is okay, the price increases have not been.
I came to conclude that Arlo's sales tactics are extremely aggressive and it will be the death of them in the coming years. I invested in some cameras a while ago and this is the second unreasonable price hike in two years. 2023 to 2024 63% this year 44%(by being forced to yearly subscription). I've lost all faith in this company. It's obvious that either the company management is doing poorly or that they are following Boeing madness to company stock chase. And we all know what happened there.
As a service company the worst you can do is to harass and chastised your customers year after year when you know you have some weakness in your system to start with, adding gizmo features isn't going to help your case. Your technical feature justifications are poor sign of your customer understanding.
Considering the hardware investment I'll stick around for one more year but after that I'm going to seriously going to look at alternatives. Because this is definitely the worst approach to customer relation. If your business model is full of holes, don't go blame you customers.
Shame on you Arlo!
Like many I'm taking my own personal time to voice my opinion. It isn't free. You should take notice!

Arlo is going to lose a lot of customers and goodwill with this latest outrageous increase. The monthly/yearly costs were already too high. I was thinking of canceling my $12.99/month subscription, no way I'm paying $19.99/mo . Will not recommend Arlo to anyone. What a horrible way to treat and take advantage of customers.

They could care less about their customers or what they think. Do they really believe this won't shrink their customer base. No one will recommend them now.

Oddly enough I was looking to add a camera this past week (to my 4 camera system) but was distracted and put it off.
Last night I saw the email from Arlo and my subscription was due to renew tomorrow so I canceled it instead (even though they offered a 3-month deal during the cancelation process). Interestingly enough they removed the ability to cancel from the Android app plus their chat bot doesn't recognize "cancel subscription" so I had to do so by logging into myarlo on the web.
I wonder how many customers Arlo is prepared to lose by this aggressive price increase.

I have an Arlo Ultra system. The cameras work well and were easy to install. I signed up for the Arlo plan for my recordings. Almost immediately there was a huge price increase. I paid it.
And now, an even bigger price increase. I received an email saying that I could keep the $150/year price by clicking a button. So I did that. And the $150/year price is good for 2025. That's good. But I see the price goes up to $225 for 2026.
I wanted to ask if I really would have to pay $225 in 2026 or would I be able to keep my $150 plan. I found out that Arlo has very poor customer service. And that's putting it mildly. Their virtual chat thing is worthless.
I spent way too much time looking for someone that could answer my simple question. I regret buying the Arlo Ultra camera system. These price increases are criminal. And they're simply not competitive. I paid the $150 for this year. But I will not pay $225. The $150 is way too much.
I see that many other Arlo customers are angry. I have a year to shop around for a camera system that values their customers.

UGH sooo frustrating, will renew and work out my move for next year, maybe see if I can live with the base station with a SD card/see what else is available.
I'm SO over subscriptions.
