Removing th old base is as simple as removing all devices in Settings, My Devices.
However, why can't you set up the new one? It may be that the yellow piece from the old base is on the old cable keeping you from plugging it in so just use the new cable that came with the new base. Then use the Add Device button on the Devices tab to claim the base. Sync the cameras. Update firmware if prompted as you go. It should be just like when you initially set up your old system.
