I recently charged my Arlo Essential, actually only second time I've charged it, but now it will only take snapshots. I turned off auto-low power mode and set the video quality to best. The routine is setup to record. Can't figure out what else to change to make it actually record video again. Snapshots are pointless.

My camera is doing the same thing after low battery (1%) then a recharge. This is also only my second time needing to charge the camera. Snapshots only from motion. Tried all the above remedies and still only snapshots.

Just a SWAG here but maybe try 2 things:
1) Proactively charge the camera so it never reaches the threshold to switch to Low Power Mode.
2) Disable Low Power Mode in the camera settings under Power Management so this doesn't happen again.

I typically do, and I agree, but still doesn’t change the fact that it’s stuck taking snapshots and cannot get out of that mode now.

My camera randomly started working correctly today. It had been only taking snapshots since being charged on 11/26.

Has a resolution been found? This happened to me. It started doing snapshots when my battery was low. I fully charged it and it's no longer doing video.

The quickest workaround is likely to remove, reset and reinstall the camera.

I had this issue after I charged my doorbell other day.
I fixed it just now by going to the app
Hitting the cog menu on the arlo doorbell
Clicking the big title ( what you named your camera)
Clicked restart
And it seemed to do the trick ( for now) hopefully it last.

@Davywall your camera was moved to a field trial, the behavior you were seeing should be resolved with this. Can you please confirm if you are still seeing the same behavior?

Restarting the camera restored video recording functionality on 3 of my cameras that experienced this annoying issue. From the app click on the settings (gear) icon of the camera, click on the name of the camera, then click on "Restart" at the bottom. Toggling "Device On" does nothing, I had to restart it as mentioned above. Once restarted, it was recording video properly.
