Is there a way to adjust how quickly the camera activates?

Is there a way to adjust how quickly the camera activates? Not sensitivity to motion.

I took the trash out and lingered by the trash cans for a while. The first thing to show up on the video is me going back into the house. So, the camera missed the garage door opening and me coming out and going over to the trashcans. (at least a full minute not caught on camera)

It's all about position and angle. Don't try to get the whole scene but narrow it down to what's actually important. Have motion start at an edge and go across the FOV, not directly to/from the camera.
