hi - Has anyone encountered this?  I've asked a few times on chat - but other tweeking with the camera which we  thought to solve the issue.  So today I swapped the cameras over and sure enough its the location.  Whatever it is seeing, I certainly cannot.  over 70+ recordings in a 12 hour schedule.  Could it be the Electric Smart Meter at our fornt door  is sending out 'something' that the camera is then seeing as a motion?  Any fixes other than move the camera away from that area - which really defeats the purpose.  Your thoughts on it please?

sennhon,

Have you adjusted the sensitivity down for this camera? It may take some trial and error to find just the right sensitivity. Also if you could post a screenshot of what this camera is facing that may give us more of an understand of what may be causing the issue.

hi thanks only viewed your reply now - thought I'd get a notice if a reply happened- sorry I missed it.  I have adjusted the sensitivity a few times and tried many variations.  still does random motion recordings.  i think at this stage I wil need to move the camera.  perhaps on same side as the meter.  but in this shot you cannot see the infraed light - so I do not understand why it is doign so many recordings.  the other cameras in other areas are not doing this.

the arlo camera mtion detection is based on heat, so if its picking up a heat source in that location that you cant see, and if its the smart meter id show a little concern and perhaps get an electrician to look at it, you might have a high resistance neutral or something which is creating heat, annoying for your camera, but a potential fire hazard.

Can you feel any heat around the box?

The Arlo camera picks up the IR or the reflection of IR  ( IR is not necessarily heat tho many think it is  )

Reflections of sunlight ( IR ) can cause many false triggers. To solve, it may require 1) change sense level on camera 2) change angle of cameras view to lessen reflections 3) change location of camera

As well, you could have fleeting motion such as a bird flying through or an insect walking across the sensor.  I've had both happen.

Indeed, if a bird flies by, the motion will triggered but by the time the camera starts recording the bird has left already!
