Hello. What specific purpose are the magnetic wall mounts?

Well the wall mounts aren't really magnetic, tho they are a magneticly attracted metal ( plated iron, steel ).

 

The magnetic resides in the cameras which have a concaved  (hollow) shape to them, the mounts have a convexed shape so the two fit together well and the magnet in the camera holds it in place ( btw, throw in a rubber liners for friction ).

 

it allows you to move the camera around to almost 150 degrees of adjustment.  If you need more then that, the ceiling / table mount allows more as do the threaded screw in mounts.
