The slowness should be fixed now with an update applied to the servers. The 10 second videos sounds like you're using the default Armed mode which is set to 10 seconds.  Create your own mode and make whatever settings you want (try not to modify Armed since that provides a good point to refer to should you need to refer to a known good mode and rules).  In any event, you adjust the recording time by modifying the appropriate mode and rules inside it.

BTW, the is the Arlo Q section, not the wireless one.  It helps to keep the issues separated.
