Smart hub VMB301 010r2 with BT Hub

I cannot get my phone to discover my smart hub

I have done the factory  resets, Checked my blue tooth, checked my internet connection (blue tooth is working on other devices in my home)

My phone is also picking up other bluetooth devices in the same room

My phone app simply won't discover the hub.

I have removed the app and re-loaded

Changed the cables

Even changed the HUB

Any help will be most appreciated

Thankyou

I have a single ethernet connection to a bt hub

Bluetooth isn't relevant (not used by the VMB3010).

What is the status of the base LEDs?

Have you also tried a PC (my.arlo.com)?  That sometimes will work when the app fails.

Thankyou for the reply

The leds are all good. Green

Also we have used the hub on blue tooth for years on our phone apps.

We had a power cut- (pretty routine around here) And it wouldn't load back up.

We have a power surge breaker.

Also I bought a new arlo hub just in case there was some damage

I,ll try connect with the PC

Many thanks

Nope.  Bluetooth isn't fast enough for video.

The hub connects to your network (and the arlo cloud) with ethernet.  You are either using wifi or mobile data in the phone to access the hub/cameras through the Arlo Cloud servers.  No bluetooth involved.

If the base is still in your account, you could try removing it (and the cameras ) and then do a paper-clip reset.  After that you could try adding them back.

I think I get this now.

So I need to connect through my internet connection on my phone and not blue tooth. (I,ll aslo use my laptop)

Thanks for this

So....

Tried to connect via my lap top now. Same Issue.

Logged into my arlo account.

went to add devices.

Followed the instructions

my laptop will not discover the the hub or the devices.

So I am stuck. I did the paperclip reset

Repeated the whole exercise to no avail

Any further help most appreciated

Thankyou

Is the internet LED status still green on the base?

Does the hub show up in your router's attached device list?

Hello Stephen

thanks for the reply

I have 4 green lights- the second  one in from the left flashes green intermittently. Looking this up it advises that when this flashes- the hub is just uopdating.

Regarding seeing what is attached to my router- not sure how I would get this. I have a bt account, so I will log in and take a look.

Given that I can get onto the internet and other items on wifi are working I think the router is ok.

Maybe the port to the hub is operating on a different frequency- ? I don't know why this would change though from its original setting

Thankyou

Onboarding the base requires several steps - one is establishing an internet connection between the base and the Arlo cloud, another is discovering the base on the local network (which is done either in the app or my.arlo.com).

If the base shows up in your router's attached device list, then it is not the internet/ethernet connection, and it would be good to rule that out.

This is ethernet, not wifi or cable modem.  No frequency modulation.

Just to clarify - the power led is what blinks when the firmware is updating.  I think this should be the first one, not the second.

The internet led will blink when the base is sending data over the internet.  If it is green, then that is good.  Amber signifies a problem.

4 green LEDs indicates some sort of problem. While these bases have 5 LEDs, only 3 - power, Internet and Camera - are used. Can you confirm that there are actually 4 showing green?
