Connecting R7000- Model AC1900 Nighthawk to either router or Arlo Base station

Just moved into a new house with new Internet service and modem/ router.  Here are the details.

 

Router: Netgear Nighthawk - R7000/AC 1900 Smart Wifi Router

Arlo Netgear base station - wired

4 Wireless cameras

ISP: Timewarner Cable

Location: Austin, Texas

Modem: Arris

 

I've hard wired the basestation for new setup and it remains undiscoverable both from the Arlo web app and Iphone app. I've tried resetting the Arlo base station , resetting the router, rebotting everthing.  This base station will not connect, which is odd. When I first purchased this set up, I had it running in 15mins.

 

How do I get my Arlo cameras up and running again? I assume this is some setting issue on my router? I'd rather not use beta code to update my firmware unless that is the only way to get my camera up and running.

I don't think the router is a problem but I suppose it could be.  I have an R7k using beta firmware for one camera and two base stations for other cameras.

 

In thew erouter basic setup screen (what you see when first logging into the router), there may be an Arlo section in the middle of the list (depends on the firmware version). If it's there, you can disable it - it's enabled by default. I don't think that would cause a problem either way but it's worth checking/trying.

 

So, on to the base station.  What are the LEDs showing?  Did you simply pick up the system from the old house and drop it into the new one?  That should have worked straight away with no fiddling. Since you tried a reset, did you use the new method, using only the reset button?  If you used the sync button, also, try again using only the reset button until the LEDs flash amber.  The Internet LED (second from the left) should be green.  If not, that's the root problem but then it depends on what color it is.  Amber means it's connected to the router but no connection to the servers - no light means it's not connected to the router.

 

It's also possible that something is blocking the ports needed.  Ports 80 (http), 443 (https) and 123 (ntp) to netgear.com need to be open.  Unless you changed the router config for security reasons, that shouldn't be an issue. I have TWC in Rochester, NY with no problems but I suppose Austin could have changed things.

This is all helpful.  I just did the held the reset and and now up and running. Thank you. I wish I had know of this new method 🙂
