Why your IR diode show red? A real IR diode when lit, will not show no red light like yours. These are chip diodes? This is a big flaw it tells everyone "hay I am here."

Define "IR".  It's all about the wavelength.  These are 850nM so are near the visible red and are visible to the naked eye, although as a dull red glow.

I agree. The IR illuminators are the cheap visible versions. Very clearly visible especially at night.
This was a problem that the makers of wild life cams has to overcome by using better IR diodes.
I suspect they are full spectrum LEDs but with an IR pass filter that passes a bit too much visible light.

Makes these expensive camera even easier to spot and steal.

I had to tape over the IR area with black electrical tape because the night vision off function did not work. It still leaks past and lights up the object directly in front of the camera making it impossible to see the less illuminated objects that are further away.
$800 for 3 cameras is giving me a twitchy eye with the issues i have been finding with these.

cruicky,

The night vision toggle in the camera settings did not work? Did you make sure to save after the toggle was switched off to commit the changes?

I have 2 cameras, one outside and one inside house. The camera inside is switched off except when we go away. Despite being off, noticed redish ir lights come on when movement detected in low light. Switched ir off in settings but battery's drained from 90% to 15% in 24 hours (received arlo email) despite camera being off. What'should going on, any ideas?

Using the On/Off switch in Settings, My Devices, your camera currently leaves the camera detecting motion but not recording.  It's been reported that it's being looked at as a bug.

For the battery, unless you were constantly activating the camera when supposedly off, it may be a display issue.  Try opening and closing the battery door to see if the display changes.  Also, if the camera doesn't have a good WiFi signal (distance, blockage, interference), the camera will struggle for a connection, wearing out the battery quickly.

Until this is resolved, there's a couple of things to try:

1) Instead of using the On/Off switch, use either the schedule or the Disarmed mode.

2) Swap cameras around to see if the issue follows the camera or stays with the position.

Thanks, pleased to know the bug is being worked on.
The batteries really were discharged as they all measured at less than 2.9 volts.
The WiFi signal on the problem camera has never been less than 75%.
Using Disarm turns off both cameras, not what I want to happen.

The only options would be the schedule or try the geofencing beta in the app.  It doesn't appear to work 100% but might do what you want if you putz with it enough.
