My husband has added me with admin access to view our cameras at home.  My brother at a different location has also granted me access to his cameras however, I cannot see anything. When I click onto that home, the page on the app says "Add a Device". Do I need to go thru the process of adding a camera or shouldn't the cameras just show up once he granted me access to them?

They are supposed to just show up.

Now to figure out why they don’t.

Read this first carefully,

https://kb.arlo.com/000039122/How-do-I-add-friends-to-my-Arlo-account

Then to work backwards, all owner and friend accounts need to be the same User interface type.

That means they can’t be mismatched, if they have “library” wording for storage then you have the old UI, if they have “feed” wording then you have the new UI.

A friend account needs to have the same UI as the owner to be able to be shared the cameras.

Ensure the owner account shows that that you have accepted the invite from their granted users list in settings. If not they will need to delete your pending account and resend a new invite.

To activate the invite, the granted user needs to select the invite link in the email sent to them to open a browser to login with the granted  account credentials.

Then the cameras  should magically appear in your mobile arlo app.

Simple as...

Check with your brother to see if the invitation was accepted.  If it wasn't, then try clicking on "create account" in the invite email on a PC.  That will open the browser to my.arlo.com.  From there, you just log into your existing account.

The process seems to be a lot more reliable on a PC than it is on the phone.

Also, double-check that all three of you have the same user experience. Either

  • all of you see "library" in the main menu or
  • all of you see "feed" in the main menu.

If there is a mix, then everyone on "library" would need to migrate to "feed".

Great, thank you. I will have him check and make sure everyone is on the same user interface which I have a feeling we are not because I think I remember him saying that he has that "grant access" function for each camera which I read that it is the older version of the interface. How would he update his user interface? A post I read said to pretend you're adding a Pro camera or something and then get out of the install and the interface should update?

Add a Pro 5s (or a home security system).  The add device will of course fail (since the camera can't be found).

So is that the correct way to update the user interface? Is to pretend to add a Pro5 cam or security system? If there is an easier way, I'm all ears.  Thanks for your quick responses.  Really Appreciate it.

Clearly it's a workaround.  I don't think Arlo anticipated that people would need to force the migration to "Feed".

I am not able to solve this part:

I just installed the app version 4.2 (5730) on my friends iPhone, and she has "library" while I have "feed". My iPhone app has the same version, but what I see is that when I log in on her phone with my credentials, I get the correct UI wording. How do I fix this, as she is not able to see any cameras?

How do you migrate to "feed"? Mine and my friend's app have the same version but different wording.
