I've been with Arlo since before our could find them in any stores and only on Amazon or eBay were they available.  I'm any case.  Isn't anyone going to complain that they e dropped the screen display size per camera, in the application. And also changed their compression algorithm so it favors less bandwidth usage over all else.  Even moreso than before.  These two things have given them an app that will play vIdeo on slower network scenarios.  Great!  But make its AI in the loop more so the quality can increase as bandwidth increases.  So the fast internet browsers can utilize it and the slow networks can compress and shrink the playback screen size only if needed.

If you buy a subscription the quality improves a bit.

The camera resolution is maintained to the video player, but video compression is variable depending on the video content and is heavily limited as you described for quantity not quality reasons.

With the higher resolution cameras 2/4K you are limited to the camera subscription status and a higher level subscription plan.

Recordings to the cloud server are restricted to 1080p(legacy), 2k(sub), 4k(sub+).
