My doorbell video has never worked - whenever anyone would ring the bell, the video would never show up on my phone. it will either show a green screen or sometimes will say 'connecting pls wait'. When I contacted their support, the agent out of the bat started saying it is your internet service issue and contact them. I did a speed test and my service at the time showed 170mbps down and 17.7mbps upload speed. He started saying you should have minimum 20 mbps up for video doorbell to work. So for all those planning to purchase arlo video doorbell, be warned that if you do not have 20mbps upload speed then dont buy it because it will not work - atleast that is what the arlo support team claims. Then when the agent realized the difference between 17.7 and 20 is not high, he started saying the channel has to be changed so contact your service provider. I knew what he meant by changing the channel and I also knew when you own the router, service providers cannot do that - I told him I have an Orbi router (Netgear product, and note Arlo was previously part of Netgear before the spin-off), and the service provider will not be able to change the channel, he started defending himself saying you are now saying that it is your own router (which he in the first place never confirmed whose router or what type of router I have). I have played around with channels and all my other devices including 10 arlo cameras on my account work fine.

Bottomline, the support was definitely not upto the mark and hope they realize this way they are only going to kill their own business

20Mbps upload speed is NOT needed - I have 12Mbps with a bunch of cameras and have no problems.

Your basic problem seems to be the connection between the doorbell and your router or base/hub - you don't specify how the doorbell is connected. This can be due to distance, 2.4GHz interference from a nearby wireless device, house construction, etc. If connected to a base or hub, try moving it away from your router. You could also try connecting it to your WiFi (or base/hub - switch between what you have).
