Is there any way to use the Arlo Chime with the wired video doorbell? It seems crazy that I'm not able to add the chime w/o a base station.

The current chime must be paired to a base or hub - no way around it.

Yeah, that's unfortunate. This seems like a no brainer though to have an Arlo chime work with an Arlo doorbell, right? Are there any plans to fix this?

Can't say but it seems like a reasonable assumption. Everything is moving to being able to use either WiFi or a base/hub.
