My video doorbell indicates that is recording but it really isn’t, but it does record sometimes when there’s actually something there, and yes I do have a subscription is there something wrong with this video doorbell? Is there a way to fix it?

This may be due to your Smart settings. One way to check would be to disable cameras in Smart as well as to use a >16GB USB drive in the base and set up local recordings. You'll have to safely eject the drive to view on a computer but you will see every recording regardless of Smart.
