Hi,

I'm unable to view locally stored videorecordings. App crashes everytime.

Tried reinstalling app, formatting microSD card.

All other things work except locally stored videorecordings.

They worked to watch, after press download in app for appr 3 weeks.

    The symptom where viewing locally stored videos causing the app to crash should now be resolved with Arlo app version 5.4.2.

     

    Please make sure you have the latest version of the Arlo app installed.

    This symptom has been identified and a fix for this is coming soon. The update is in a slow roll out phase at the moment and looks to be completed soon.

I see that the app has been updated to 5.4.2 which hopefully will fix the issue. My devices don't see it yet but keep checking.

I upgraded to Arlo Secure app 5.4 on my Samsung phone, but now I have no idea how to access my library of locally stored videos over the internet. (I already properly setup the port forwarding and such before.)

Normally with the old version of the Arlo app, I'd just tap the Library icon and then change the source from Cloud to my Arlo Ultra2 hub.

 

Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks

First try 

  • going to the "devices" page
  • selecting the base station's tile
  • selecting "Storage Settings"

and let us know if you find the recordings there.

that worked!  thanks stephen.  i don't know why i didn't see the videos under storage settings before, but now it's ok.

My setup does the same. Went to bed 1/16/25 and all was working properly. First use on the morning of 1/17/25, the app crashed when I attempted to open a video in the library.  Currently unable to view locally stored vids on the app.  I'm waiting for a fix.

I have the same problem, with version 5.4.0_28783.  No later version is available on the Play Store as of yet.

Oddly enough the exact same version as I was before, which makes no sense to me whatsoever! 5.4.0_28783. The app's interface just changed after I'd logged in on my laptop and applied the forced update.

Thank you.  I have the app they gave me on my phone.  No other app was offered. I see no other apps for arlo in the app store. I access my videos through the link labeled library.  This system is useless to me unless they fix this problem or give me a way to download the old working version.

Has there been any resolution to the android app crashing while trying to view clips from local storage after the latest update? The constant issues are unacceptable! Please fix ASAP

Hi jguerdat, where dod you see the version 5.4.2? As I don't see any other version except 5.4.0.... on the play store.

This has been driving me crazy for the last few days.

Reinstalled the app, cleared cache,  even bought new batteries. 

Just keeps crashing and loops, out of the app,when try to view the library.

No subscription,  by the way.

Get a message comes up,says arlo secure app closed, because of a bug.

Try updating the app,after the developer  provides a fix for the error.

Looks like Alrlo broke it, so please fix it ASAP.

I do have exactly same problem as George has. Very recently (about in January 2025) I can not use my library in Arlo Secure app ver. 5.4.0_28783. When I select 1) Library 2) then Base station 3) correct date that do include videos ... > the Arlo Secure app crashes!!! (Phone Samsung A55 (SM-A556B/DS), Android 14, One UI ver 6.1, with all current updates.) I have removed the Arlo Secure app and reloaded the latest rev from Google Play. I have rebooted the Base station several times. I can see live steaming, .... but not see Library .... bacause the Arlo Secure app crashes. Everything is good in app settings. I have two base stations VMB500r4, both with four Arlo Ultra 2 cameras. What to do, please help me.

I'm having the same issue for the past few days. I Uninstalled the app, restarted phone, and reinstalled app. Rebooted the smarthub and wifi modem, and cleared cache. None of these solved the problem.

Similar issue. App crashes all the time. I have tried to no avail all recommendations from Arlo support. Can you login to your account on the Arlo web site?

 

For me I believe it is because Arlo is trying to force a purchase of a subscription because when I login to my account on the Arlo web site, immediately a window pops-up wanting me to purchase a subscription. I can close the window but have no access to any of local recordings. I think this is happening on my account which is crashing the app

I have the same issue with my android devices using app version 5.4.0_28783.  

 

This problem started after the last app update.
