Just got a notification that the subscription of the Arlo Secure Plan is being increased yet again.  What I find appaling is the fact that the company tries to justify the price increase with all these new features yet the increase for the monthly subscription option is a significant $8/month unless you want to pay for a full year in advance which is what many companies are doing to lock you in.  I remember just a couple of years ago I was paying $9.99/mo which will now be double for the same quality equipment I can get with many of their competitors.  So, what I will do instead is cancel my subscription and trash the cameras and switch to something better and more reasonable priced.  This is not to offer the end users more features but to price gouge and be greedy.

Thank you all for the feedback. On January 3rd Arlo has updated subscription plans and pricing to enhance the Arlo Secure experience, doubling cloud video storage, and making new AI-powered capabilities available to all subscribers in the US. We have simplified into two plans to allow you to easily identify which features are right for your security needs.

For more information on the new Arlo Secure plans, available now, see https://www.arlo.com/en-us/arlosecure.html

My equipment is the original arlo cameras, why on earth would I pay $20. a month for on ancient cameras?

If you have one of the early models you still have access to the free 7-day storage. These cameras are quite dumb now, without premium services, but free is good.

Use the app to go to Settings, Support and choose a method to contact official support. Yes, prices recently increased - you should have gotten an email about that.

I originally went with the free setup, later on started acquiring more cameras and even bought more of the Arlo base stations,  small routers, each one unfortunately can only handle 5 cameras. Eventually got up to 22 cameras, have a big property and live near lots of open fields so that is why I needed to keep buying more cameras and stopped at 22.  That would have been too many of those base stations, have 3 of them and hesitated buying 2 more and thought much easier just to go with the orig $9.99 plan, and now $20. Already started last night looking at all the new wireless setups with wifi and just trying to decide of the wired cameras or the wireless.  I don't mind the investment because will be a lot cheaper then throwing $20. away each month for a cheap camera system with mediocre service.

Wow! That must be a charging nightmare. I think I would go wired where possible.

OMG, Thank you for commenting on the charging nightmare.  You have no idea!  I bought the batteries in huge bulks on ebay, and awesome fast charger that can charge 10 at a time, so I always have charged up reserves ready to go.  About every 7 to 10 days, start the nightmare battery change.  These wireless ancient Arlo are useless in cold and extreme heat.  I've been looking since last night at all kinds of models, so overwhelming on what to choose. I do like the ones with  solar with a dome.  I also like that the ones that I am looking have no type of subscription service.  A lot of decide from on Amazon.   Probably will spend 10 to 15 days narrowing down the pros/cons of different systems.  A lot of great wired systems too, just got to narrow it down.  I've slimmed it down to a firm count of 17 cameras, that's an expensive installation of that many hard wired cameras.  So again hopefully at this time can go with a solar or just a really good wireless, and the solar is guiding me because the no worry about battery change.

I cannot believe that Arlo can every so often just increase your monthly charges with no notification whatsoever. This company is terrible to deal with. I am in the process of replacing these and looking for a new source that will also be more dependable since half these cameras work sometimes, and sometimes they don’t

I paid the 150$ for this year's renewal subscription.   I recognize your price increase will go up to $215 next year.  I'm not going to pursue another year after this one.   So since you have my attention, here is my feedback.  I have 6, 2K cameras, a doorbell and the speaker inside for the battery doorbell.  So while I do have a lot invested on this, I can say the batteries on this cameras, and they are the XL versions which claimed the battery would last a year.  They don't even go for 4 months without a recharge.   Now to me while 3-4 months is impressive to me, that is not how you advertised it when selling these.   The opposite of under promise and over deliver.  The cameras are maybe 1920x1080 at best,  anytime something happens where someone rings the doorbell.. I answer it and the video is black or green screen.. with no video displaying.   Anytime I click on an alert,  it takes a good 15 seconds for the love feed to start.  Just very, mediocre performance and quality none the less.  I find 150 to be fair but that's about it for me , I never see firmware updates other than the time when we installed them, so not a whole lot going on with optimizing what you already sold me.  Btw these are my 3rd set of Arlo cameras.  I have a lot of experience with your equipment.    So basically insinuating here is it is not worth it to me to pursue my business here with Arlo in 2026.  That subscription price point is not  worth it.   If someone were to ask me my opinion of Arlo cameras, out of 5 stars.   I would give you guys 2.5/5.   And I figured I should come here and express how I feel, and there may be others that agree with me or not.  I wish you guys the best, and you have a year to re-evaluate what you think you are worth.

But if I don't see any performance updates, or optimizations done.. and the price is still 215$ a year.. I'm saying goodbyeeeeee 👋😆

Time to dump this company.   This price increase is unsubstantiated.  My monthly plan went from 13.77 to 21.19 to check activity of my 3 arlo cameras .    I did not receive any notice of this increase either.   I am not paying 21.19 a month  for the camera to record activity.   This is BS!

I have no intention of continuing with ARLO.   Price gouging.

100% agree, I am out. I feel like a fool for investing money for these cameras.

Increase is ridiculous. I'm not paying $20 per month for 2 cameras. I just cancelled and bought Eufy cameras and will be swapping all of mine out this week. They won't even refund my cancellation as I was just billed. Apparently, I didn't receive an email notice of an increase. I've been recommending Arlo for their ease of use for years and now it is just price gouging. Cloud storage is CHEAP for the amount of small storage. For comparison, we back up 6TB of data each month and pay $40 per month.

Agreed, price increase 200% since I started using Arlo.

I will cancel my my subscription and go elsewhere, currently looking at Eufy cameras.

I did start the canceling process and was offered 50% off for three month which I took and will use that time to get and set up another system.

Good Bye Arlo

I'm 100% off. Can't cancel. My sub ends in the Fall. Physically removed everything. Holy cow, is Ubiquiti stuff so much nicer! PoE works, even with existing CAT 5. There are some motion behaviors I'd like improved, but so much better than Arlo. Waiting for the AI Key to be available to add additional functionality on top of my new cameras for facial recognition, plate matching, text searching, etc.

I've had my Eufy cameras for over a month now. They have worked flawlessly, have more features than Arlo, and are more reliable.....and no subscription!   I'd also check RioLink, they seem to be good as well.

Even though I never signed up for a new plan, I received the following message when opening my Arlo app on my iPhone today:
"Action Required. Your new plan includes features that require an app upgrade."

This popup screen required me to click a button that said "Upgrade Now". Notice this is different than the normal app update one is accustomed to via normal App Store updates. Arlo wants people to agree to this upgrade by consenting to the new terms and features. It's a little misleading because the first words in BOLD letters say 'Action Required", but they're careful to follow that in smaller 'non-bold' lettered words that say "Your new plan includes features that require an app upgrade". So is action really 'required' or is it only required if we want the new features. Arlo would have you believe you need to agree to this , but in smaller (than the action required) print below, it gives the option to continue without these features.

People will also recall the email with an 'offer' everyone received to continue services for just one more year at your current rate before the big 44% price increase. I will never agree to that. Arlo preys on the fact that people have already invested hundreds of dollars into their Arlo proprietary cameras and will still opt to pay the 44% price increase versus buying a whole new camera system with another company. I'm proud to say, that I am cancelling my subscription all together in a couple weeks. I may lose some money on buying new cameras with another company, but it's worth not being taken advantage of with misleading tactics to squeeze more dollars out of us and at the rate at which they're doing it.

Arlo clearly has new leadership with a new philosophy in business that I'm sure most of us do not agree with. Forced 44% price increase??? No thank you.

They employed a similar tactic to force users to upgrade to the new user experience, which is work in progress.

I used to be proud of my Arlo cameras (when I had Arlo HD). Now? I'm ashamed of owning this keech and what this company has become. On top of everything, they employ punitive measures for the fact that I dared to spend my hard earned money on their system.

This price increase is ridiculous!  You invest a huge chunk of money on the cameras and then they DOUBLE the monthly fees in two years!   I will never buy another Arlo system.  And I will tell everyone I know to go with another brand.

I urge everyone to write negative reviews and avoid recommending Arlo on all online forums they come across.

Arlo has demonstrated absolute ignorance on this matter—completely unresponsive.

The best way to hold Arlo accountable is through widespread negative publicity.

The more people know about their poor service, the more potential customers they lose.

Bad publicity leads to lost earnings, and that’s the only language they seem to understand.

Spread the word in as many places as possible.
