Immediately following the Secure App update to 6.3.8, I’ve had a strange false problem occur on 3 different cameras now.

Get a message that a camera is not able to recharge its battery.

But the battery icon shows it's full.

And when I click / look at the camera device info, it shows it’s 100% fully charged.

Never had this problem before on any camera over the years.  Now it's happened on 3 different cameras since the 6.3.8 app update.

Happens to me as well, but I see it alot more when I use a long USB cable like 20+ feet.  Not sure if its impedance but its consistent, but does charge.  When I use the long cable with the Pro and Pro2's, no red icons or errors.  Just the Pro4 and Pro5s.

With the recent app updates, Now I get that red icon and error even when using an official Arlo USB brick and official short cable. Both in App and Web browser, so I dont think its app related.  The backend probably thinks you're connected to a solar charger.

Arlo doesnt even send a official brick anymore, but throws an error now for everything; 1A or 2A doesnt matter.

Typical Arlo problems?

FWIW, Arlo's outdoor charger for the Ultra/Pro 3/Pro 4/Pro 5 (25' cable integrated with the charger) delivers 9 volts instead of the usual 5.  That reduces the power loss in the cable.

@GeneralMeow

FWIW, over the years I've used sets of Pro2, Pro3, Pro4, and then Pro5s Cams...always had good power to them.

Never once in all those years with all those different Cams in the same spots with the same power did I ever have the false messages I immediately started getting on multiple Cams when the secure app pushed out version 6.3.8.

I see they've now pushed out version 6.4.0...watching to see if that has a fix.

Didn't realize that was a thing.  good to know.  I just assumed the same would work on the pro4/5 due to always using 20+ foot cables with the pro1-2's just fine.

UPDATE:

My false messages about cams being unable to charge suddenly started happening when secure app version 6.3.8 came out.

Likewise, the false messages have suddenly stopped when version 6.3.8 was replaced with version 6.4.0.  Haven't had another one since...

Spoke too soon...version 6.4.0 didn't fix the false message problem after all.

Just had another false message about a cam that always has a 100% charge on it, and is on a short 6' cable with the high power charger unit.

UPDATE...........................Latest Secure App Version 6.4.2 just released

Appears to be a positive update...Faster, couple flaky issues seem to be gone.

Will know more after a couple days...but it's initial impact seems good.

FWIW - Noticing a new strange issue with latest secure app version 6.4.2.

When click opening the App on my iPhone, all the camera screens are black with a red exclamation mark in the middle of the screens.

Then after waiting a minute, all the camera normal screens begin appearing one after another.

FWIW, I've been seeing that for a while (well before 6.4.2).  In my case, it starts filling in the screens in just a couple of seconds.

...more of a figure of speech than a lot of specifics.

My experiences have been a few seconds to literally a half a minute, depending on how many of them appear with the off / black screen / exclamation point showing.

If I hear something and grab my phone to take a quick look, I expect my cameras to be on.

Instead, this latest new set of problems interfere with that.

I just SMH at the never ending problems...

Does it occur on wifi and mobile data? I'm not able to replicate this as you described.

@roundball  Can you provide a screenshot of what you are seeing?

@StephenB I sent you a PM

And the latest version 6.4.4 that just came out didn’t fix the weird messages.
