I use a routine to Arm Home at midnight, and then switch to Standby in early morning.
Now I get woken to an Arlo notification in my phone when the automation runs and the system is Armed and then unarmed.

Please disable these! We wake up to an Arlo alert, which can be frightening, only to see our system as armed like we wanted it to.

Or give us the option to disable such non-useful notifications.

The complaint is understood and the solution is part of a larger grouping of changes that will be coming in a future update. I don't have an estimation at this time for when those changes will be available, but more control over push notifications in general will be part of that update.

    Ron-R,

We're currently working on an enhancement that will allow more customization with push notifications in general (not just mode changes). I don't have an ETA for this enhancement just yet but we will share more information once we move closer to a release date.

    Caspter_NL,

As of now there are no plans to change the Arm/Disarm notifications sent for mode changes. I will continue providing the feedback posted here to the development team for consideration but I do not have any new information to share at this time.

@JamesC

James, thanks for the update. It’s really unfortunate it took 2-1/2 years, and a deluge of frustrated customers feeling ignored, to finally get a semblance of acknowledgement of the software defect from Corporate.

Let’s just hope the fix is soon — it’s been a long wait.

Looking forward to your updates,

 Ron

Not trying to be negative here but I just DO NOT BELIEVE that almost 3 years later @Arlo has decided to do something about this. So, I’ll believe it when it happens! I guess if much larger companies can recognize mistakes and fix them ARLO may be capable of that as well. Fingers crossed because I don’t know if any of y’all want this fixed more than I do!

@JamesC  James, any update since Nov 11 on this long-awaited fix ?

I noticed the subscription price went up 67% in 1 year .... from $129/yr in Jan 2025 to $215/yr that I was just charged.  No warning, just a massive price increase.  All the while, Arlo is not fixing this problem that Arlo created 32 months ago !

Please provide an update.  Thank you.

Just piling on here.  I am also annoyed with the notification of armed status changing.  I would love to disable the mode change notification.  Especially when going from Armed Away to Armed Home.

The only difference in my case is whether 1 of my 6 cameras is detecting motion.  So, I just disable one camera.  The problem is, I see a big security issue with being able to disable cameras individually without notification. That is a huge security issue that, in my opinion, is much bigger than notifying of status change.  You force notification of armed status change, but simply turning the cameras off and leaving the armed status the same is silent.

Any news on this long awaited enhancement @JamesC? It has been in the oven for at least 4 months now.

@FredinLr
I brought that exact argument up during a marathon phone chat session with Arlo after they threw the old “this is for your safety” excuse at me. When i pointed out the extremely large hole in their “safety” they promptly ended the call. They will not speak with me. I have tried to open new cases and they wont respond. There is a recent claim that they are actually working on notification enhancements in the app but it is unknown of it will involve eliminating the mode change notification or give us the ability to turn it off.

@GoBraves. I wouldn't just eliminate it, the notification does have it's place, just not for me.  Just as large an issue to me is that I can simply disable all cameras at the device level, and it will still say 'Armed Away' or 'Armed Home' and not even indicate that the security mode has been bypassed.

Is there anything dumber than sending notifications for filtered events to the same device that made the change?

You would think some of the "powerful AI" could be employed to apply some intelligence to the notifications.

Whoever designed this must not actually use the devices. This is terrible UX. "We turned the cameras off as you requested. We turned the cameras on as you requested. We turned the cameras off as you requested. We turned the cameras on as you requested. We turned the cameras off as you requested. We turned the cameras on as you requested."

This is a joke...

I use custom mode which dosnt let you set say 7pm to 7am, so you have to do 7-midnight, midnight to 7am. So of course we get a notification at midnight that its armed.

So i tried automations, with the dont send notification added and it will still send notification.

Theres no way to stop notifications when the system changes modes.

I had a work around all these years by downgrading the app on my android, now they seem to have forced this update.

Final nail in coffin for me, its time to end my arlo subscription and sell these cams. The software is terrible. Not to mention trying to add users to your account who are in different versions or ios, almost impossible.

Hope these key words help others get to this conclusion quicker when Googling these issues. Just delete and move on, cancel your arlo.

Indeed, and another 7 months of radio silence since we were assured this was being worked on.

100% !

You would think in today's modern, high-tech, software-forward world in which we live that they would have figured this out by now ?  Instead they cancelled the open tickets we created 3 years ago and continue to live with their head in the sand.

Ron-R

I became convinced they have no intent to fix.  I based this on them telling me for 6 months that they were "looking into my case", only to then have the ticket closed with no warning from Arlo.  When I inquired, they simply said "this is a safety feature and we have no intent to change it".  That was 2-1/2 years ago and their inaction only verifies that intent.

I am glad Ibam not the only one. I was forced to the new app and I guess will be canceling my subscription if this is not addressed by 5/11, the 3 year anniversary of this complaint.

It is absolutely terrible user experience to force push notifications for scheduled automations. Then you force people to the new app knowing that this was an issue for 3 years...

It cannot be THAT hard to simply Let ME choose if I want the notifications.

Mode Change Notifications -
[   ] Same as Device Alert
[   ] Silent
[×] Feed only

Heck, add phone passkey support for a change in mode (fingerprint or FaceID) if you are worried about safety. But like I said, let ME choose my notifications.

GoBraves

They have said from the very beginning they have NO intent to change it because it was done in the interest of safety. I along with several others have shown them the flaws in their logic as well as their system but they refuse to admit defeat. So yes, you are correct, they continue to live with their head in the sand.

The new software sucks ! Everything is wrong. Getting notifications even when I a at home. I had 2 places on the system, one of them is just gone. Huge problem with this software. It needs to be changed !

I finally gave up on Arlo. I just paid $215 for the year and thought, why am I paying so much for something that I am no longer happy with. I canceled my subscription and now waiting for my reimbursement for the remainder of the year I paid. It’s just not worth it after talking to others that have the Ring and brag about how great it is and pay a lot less. Waiting for 3 years and now they even have the gal to say they are not going to fix the issue. It’s sad because Arlo was a great security system. I enphasis Was. Bye Arlo.

@JamesC- Has there been any progress on this since your last update a couple of years ago? I imagine most people don’t need notifications every time there is a scheduled or geofenced status change. The point is automation, after all, and the old Arlo app worked fine without them. It even gave you an option to toggle notifications on or off for Home or Away geolocations!

That’s great! Sorry, I just realised you’ve possibly already responded recently but it’s nearer the bottom of the “helpful posts” list on my mobile screen, and therefore I missed it. Would it be worth unpinning some of the “most helpful” answers at the top somehow so your most recent comments are more visible?

I am going to respectfully disagree with you for everyone here who has participated in these discussions. If a problem has not been resolved in more than 3 years, it has not been heard and understood. I don't have the first clue how to write code but i am certain i could have figured out how to fix this in less than 3 years. You have to understand from OUR standpoint how ridiculous this whole situation has been. Especially when Arlo customer service as well as you have told us that that there is no intention to change this because , in their words, this is a safety issue.
