Not for the first time, Arlo is driving me utterly crazy. I am using 3 x Arlo Pro 3 cameras and at the moment I have three individual "Secure Single Camera" subscriptions.

My system started out with two, then three Pro 3 camera but but the end of today I'll have six cameras -- but currently only subscriptions / plans to cover three of them. I am trying to work out how to change the assignment of these plans. Literally giving up the will to live.

First issue is I tried to follow these instructions...

  1. Log in to Your Arlo Account:

    • Use the Arlo app on your phone or tablet, or log in via the Arlo website.
  2. Go to Settings:

    • Navigate to Settings > Subscription or Manage Subscription. This section will show your current plan details.

...however when I go to Settings there is no "Subscription" or "Manage Subscription" option so failed at the first hurdle.

I have checked every option and sub-option of every menu in the web application, both under the main app ("Secure") and under the account management app ("My Arlo Account") -- nothing. No option anywhere that says I can reassign a single camera subscription to a different camera. In fact I cannot even find out which cameras are under the plan.

So far the ONLY way I've found ANYTHING which shows which cameras are covered is if I try to cancel the subscription. If I go into My Arlo Account > Arlo Secure Subscription > Cancel Subscription I have the option to cancel my "Secure Single Camera - Monthly" plan and underneath the plan name it shows the three cameras covered (which are Porch, Driveway, Patio as it happens). But, still, no option to reassign a plan to a different camera, or to remove one of the cameras from the plan.

Maddening!!

As a fall-back, I was even prepared to cancel ALL of the plans and take out a new plan to cover more cameras (either 4 or 6... tbc) but at the moment a) I don't know if I'll end up caught between two stools e.g. because Arlo won't allow me to reassign a camera to the new plan until the old plan expires in one month's time, and anyway b) right now I'm thinking more about ditching Arlo completely than giving them more money!

Can anyone help. The system really sucks...

Thanks

Alastair

You don't mention it but I suspect you're using the new interface that uses Feed to view recordings - is that correct? If so, you've been reading the wrong FAQ. Note that at the top of each FAQ is a link to the other version. Here's the correct document:

https://kb.arlo.com/000063052/How-do-I-change-or-cancel-my-Arlo-subscription-plan-Arlo-Secure-4-0

I have a full plan so can't speak to how you can manage single camera plans. Based on what I can see, it appears (to me) that canceling the current subscriptions may be necessary, followed by subscribing to the unlimited plan (3 single camera plans cost more than the unlimited Plus plan).

Does any of this help?

Hi,

Thank you. And yes - it does, in the sense that since I posted I had come to the same conclusion: not about the old vs new interfaces but it appears you're correct in terms of needing to cancel.

What it looks like is that the single camera plans are really intended only for someone with a single camera, not multiple cameras being variously reassigned to different single camera plans -- so having checked literally everything, and ultimately by process of elimination and your note, I have concluded the answer is that it is NOT possible to remove a single camera from a single camera plan, then reassign another camera to that same plan. What you do is cancel one and take out a single sub on the other. There is a logic there but it wouldn't hurt for Arlo to make this a bit clearer... even slightly clear... I've not found a single help page, whether on here or Arlo support or even Reddit on this.

I need the cameras on a plan for next week and I was worried if I cancelled I would end up in a worse place. Arlo's terrible app actually helped here... when you have three cameras on three single plans, and you ask to cancel, it asks you which one you want to cancel (fair enough if a little clunky) -- but when you cancel one, you no longer have the option to cancel the other two... the "cancel subscription" option has gone. Really crap coding.

Solved in the end by adding a fourth camera to a fourth single camera plan (!!!) -- needs must etc -- and as it happens the 5th and 6th cameras were newly acquired and had never been connected, so Arlo gave me a free plan for both of those for 30 days.

Just shouldn't be this difficult! But thanks for your help.

It used to be that you could assign cameras to a plan in the old interface. I haven't even seen that interface in a long time so whether that is still an option or not is unknown to me. Regardless, it does strike me as a useful tool to me to allow simply allowing cameras to be removed and added to a single camera plan. Of course, with the unlimited plans there's no need.
