Arlo Q stuck in boot / firmware upgrade

I received a new Arlo q today and I got it set up but now it stuck in a firmware update loop. I have tried everything, reset (gone through whole setup again) , power cycle, leaving it unplugged for hours l, leaving plugged in for hours and nothing is working. Very frustrating because the camera is useless. Any ideas how to fix it?

When you say reset...did you hold in the RESET button for 10 secs till the front LED flashed?

yes I used a paperclip to reset the device twice, holding it for over 10 seconds until the led started to blink.
