I have just purchased the Arlo Pro I didn’t realise it didn’t continually record I was misinformed is it better I purchase another type if I want this or is having recording only on movement okay?
Also can anyone tell me if I can watch this on my smart TV and if how?

These cameras have always been motion-activated, as stated in all literature. The Pro 2 cameras have an optional feature, CVR (continuous video recording) if AC powered which is also stored in the cloud, if that's really important to you.
SMart TV viewing is an issue since there are no apps other than for Apple TV. You can use a browser on other smart TVs but the browser lacks Flash so live view won't work.
