With the Arlo Pro camera, can regular (non-rechargeable) ni-cad batteries be used in place of the rechargeable battery?

No. You'll need to use the battery pack provided. And where have you found non-rechargeable NiCd batteries??

Depends on hjow you use it. Live view and recording times all get in there - 5 minutes per day should give you 2-3 months.
