I am interested because I understand it Connects directly to Wi-Fi.     I have a iPad 7th generation software version 13.5.1.     We have wi-fi in the house.   does this mean if I buy the Pro 4 camera it can connect direct to the iPad?   can more than 1 Pro 4 connect to the the iPad?  Thanks.

No, the arlo cameras do not connect directly to the iPad or a mobile device, it needs an internet path.

The pro4 cameras connect to the arlo server via the internet connection provided by the local wifi network.

Note: Subscription required for cloud storage of recordings and services.

The pro4 camera can alternately connect to a arlo Base/hub if you require local backup of triggered recordings.

The base/hub connects to the internet via a Ethernet connection to your local router.

Your mobile device like the iPad connects to the arlo server via it’s own internet connection  to display the cameras, a pc web browser can also access the camera using the arlo website login my.arlo.com.

You can have a lot of cameras connected although you would be limited to how many at the same time depending on wifi bandwidth in use. Five cameras is the most for what the wifi can handle .

So if you get the pro4 camera and create an arlo account you can connect the camera using the local wifi and view it with your iPad.

To simplify @DannyBearAgain's answer:

The cameras connect to your home wifi, not directly to the iPad.  So they will work even if the iPad is off.

But you can access them on the iPad using the Arlo Secure app.  This will work even if you are away from home (connecting the ipad to mobile data or a wifi hotspot).

You'll need an Arlo Secure subscription to get recordings.  Check the list here to make sure that it is available in your country (and to get pricing).
