I liked how my cameras were set up on my feed. My saved videos were all in thumbnails in neat little rows and columns on my devices.
one day I log in and it says it has new features for me. I click on that button and now I have BS about arming while I’m away and widgets on my home page. My devices tab have the live feed options only and My feed has each camera notification stacked and using an entire line all by itself listing whether it’s armed or not. Once I click on an event I can no longer just hit the back button and go back but have to exit the entire app and come back before I can another. I really HATE this new interface. It’s clumsy, not user-friendly, and I just want to go back to the way it was. Can anyone help me/

The new Arlo app update in Feb 2025 is awful.  Can no longer set a schedule for individual cameras.  The app is so complicated.

on top of this the service price was raised.

Has anyone else updated to the new app, in the last few days, and does anyone else hate it as much as me?

If you’re referring to the arlo new UI interface, then I can’t say anyone has posted that they enjoy the new experience.

I've seen one or two, but not very many.  Not sure that is a good analytic, since most people posting in every compay forum have an issue/problem they want help with.

Personally I think it does depend on how you use your cameras and how many locations they are in.  I think there are a lot of folks who don't use geofencing or scheduling, they just keep their cameras armed.  They are likely happy with it.  Folks who end up losing features they had before migration understandably will be angry/frustrated.

Well functionality simply got taken away. There is simply no excuse in the world to take custom modes away and the "AI Feature" should still be left in alpha testing. And we don't even wanna start with the Geofencing debacle,

what version number are you referring to?  say 5.5.2?

I agree.  It was a clear miss by Arlo.

Not sure on that one.  I haven't gotten around to playing with person recognition, vehicle recognition, or custom detection yet.   Generally with AI, the results depend on the training set - and that is particularly true here where the training is done by each customer.  Validating the design likely does require broader deployment than you can get in alpha or closed betas.

Right now it doesn't even know what a car looks like or an animal and just says "Motion". And it doesn't record cars that drive past either.

These cameras are designed to record people within ~25 feet. The fact that sometimes/many times cars are recorded past the distance is outside the design specs and is likely due to a strong IR signature or even reflections of the sun's IR. The object is to position the cameras to monitor people around your house, not the whole neighborhood.

Just like everyone else, I bought the cameras based  based on the system capability.

The update request screen made NO mention of the capabilities and features that would be lost if you upgrade.

For me, losing individual camera level scheduling made them worthless. I'm sure there are MANY other people that bought them for other capabilities and features that disappeared with no warning as well.

Are there any lawyers out there that need a lead plaintiff for class action lawsuit?

beyond fed up with the update, we need to revert, literally nothing is working and I have spent hours on it. They need to go back to the old version asap this is terrible and unreliable.

I finally got mine to work like it's intended.

I had to completely remove everything and start all over like it is the first time. All I can say is keep trying.

Worst update I've ever had to deal with.

Good luck.

It has been 506 days since I posted the thread asking on how to revert back to the old UI since the new UI is TERRIBLE. This forum thread has received over 36,000 views, 230 likes and 130 comments echoing the same issue.

Since posting, it feels like Arlo has yet to acknowledge the issue of the new User Interface. The old one worked perfect, there was no reason to replace it. I was forced to update after purchasing the 2k doorbell as soon as it was released. I regret it every day. If it wasnt for me investing over $1000 in cameras, I would have left Arlo a while ago. Now I am waiting to see which happens first - my cameras fail or Arlo fixes the issue so I can get a working system again.

I have spent over 40 hours of my time with Arlo reps trying to get my geofencing to work but they could not find any issues and essentially told me there was nothing they could do.

The modes are way too confusing and overcomplicated. The widgets are pointless and just a waste of space. Seeing camera status is tedious. I can go on and on.

I am hoping moderators see this and can give us all an update as to if there is a plan or timeline. It seems like there is a high number of users that feel the same way.

I absolutely hate the new app update. Now I cannot arm specific cameras and/or specific locations differently. I have many cameras across multiple properties and it also seems like it’s trying to force me to create a separate plan for each property. This was not required before.  Also to navigate this app is far too overly complicated. Clearly very little real world user feedback was provided before they released this horrendous update. I’ve never experienced such a substantial app change (in anything) that made things so much worse.  I have ring cameras as well and I will need to look into migrating everything to Ring now. It’s my understanding that Arlo customer service has resulted in no help to address there problems.
