Arlo now forces users to have a subscription to view video recordings. The app no longer supports local storage rendering the Arlo hub redundant. This is blatent gouging of its Customers leaving the security systems of those without a subscription useless. Arlo should be ashamed of this dishonest treatment of Customers who have now wasted hundreds of $ investing in Arlo products.

You've tagged the VMB4540 hub which does indeed support local recordings for cameras that are connected to it. Both the 4540 and 5000 hubs work with the app to allow you to directly view recordings while older VMB4xxx base stations require that you eject the drive for viewing on a computer.
What makes you say the app doesn't support viewing local recordings? The old UI that uses Library to view recordings has a pull-down menu to choose what to view while the new UI can view these recordings in the hub's settings under Storage Settings.

All good now albeit through a clunky workaround.
