Arlo Pro 3 Hub - cannot find an Arlo device

I have tried to setup my Arlo Pro 3 Hub and it keeps telling me it cannot find an Arlo device.  I have called Arlo support and they tell me that I need to open closed ports on my router.  Has anyone had to do this?
