I have the following Arlo devices:

3 - Arlo Pro 3 Floodlight Cam - FB1001, FB1001 and H4

4 - Arlo Essential Wire-Free cam - VMC 2030, VMC 2030, VMC 2020, and H6

1 - Arlo Video Doorbell

1 Base Station - VMB4500r2

Two of the floodlight cams, the doorbell, and 2 of the Arlo Essential Wire-Free Cams are connected to the base station.

My issue is:

All 3 Floodlight cams take 15 to 17 seconds to go live no matter if they are connected to the base station or not.

The driveway Arlo Pro 3 floodlight, backyard Arlo Pro 3 floodlight, the video doorbell, and 2 of the Arlo Essential Wire-Free cams are connected to the base station.
The other 2 Arlo Essential Wire-Free cams which are inside the house go live within 2 seconds. They are not connected to the base station. The 3rd Floodlight cam is not connected to the base station. The video doorbell will go live in about 3 to 4 seconds and it is connected to the base station.

I did notice the cams connected much faster once I moved some of the cameras to within 10 feet of the router.

So, in order for the floodlight cams and one of the Arlo essential cams to connect faster, do I need to upgrade my network to something like eero wireless mesh or Google Mesh?

ogansemoi,

If the cameras connect faster when moved closer to the router to which they are connected, this could be an indication that the location of the cameras is causing an issue or they are too far from the router/base station to maintain a quality connection, causing a delay. Improving the signal strength on your network when the floodlights are connect directly to the network could improve the signal strength and reduce the delay.

FWIW, improving signal quality can also increase battery life.
