So how long can you actually record outdoors wire free on the basic acc set up

The system will keep 7 days of recordings and hundreds of camera triggers. It is not designed for CVR outdoors. 

You could expect typically 3-6 weeks or more of battery life depending on how many triggers your camera experiences. Very similar to Arlo Pro. It uses the same batteries and has similar power usage to the Arlo Pro camera.
