The USB port on this unit, what is the purpose ?

can it be used to apply the wifi with direct access without having a paid subscription?

You can attach a flash drive to get local storage for backup.

With the VMB4500, the USB storage needs to be ejected from the base and then connected to a PC to view the recordings.  They aren't available in the app or in the browser.
