Pro 2 - IR lights on all the time

Am I to understand that the IR lights remain on at all times when dark, even when running on battery power? Seems like its draining the battery. I guess this is so it can see for the 3 seconds prior to motion being detected? Is there any way to turn the 3 second feature off? Also, is there a setting where IR lights only come on when PIR motion detector is activated. Night vision image quality seems to be the worst of any of the other 10+ NV cameras I own. ) :

When on ac, it is very possible the Pro2 ir 's are on as the camera is always recording...  but on battery they are not as that feature is not available.

You have the option of turning the IRs on or off.

If ON, when the PIR is triggered ( on battery ) the IRs will come on ...otherwise they are off.
