Re Arlo Pro 2 cutting out from the internet, I mulled on it and remembered that what we did with my mom's webcam when it did that, was to attach it to a timer plug and set it to stop and then restart once a day for example, for the instances that it would cut out from the internet.

I could either do that ie use a timer for the Arlo Pro 2 router or go one step further and use an Alexa Plug

TP-Link HS100 Wi-Fi Smart Plug, Works with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, No Hub Required, Control Your Devices from Anywhere (UK Plug)

which I can control from my Smartphone and reboot the Arlo Pro 2 router whenever it cuts out from the internet.

Hi,

I see the Arlo Pro 2 is now listed on Amazon UK using the following product code (VMS4230P-100EUS).

The release date is 18th December.

The real suprise is the price, at £569.99 for the 2 camera kit. This is a pre-order price so might change but when it is $479.99 in the US you have to wonder. Hopefully it is just a placeholder until release and the price will adjust.

Thanks

Simon

Interesting. Thx for sharing. For me it was cheaper buying from Amazon US at £913 for a base station and 2 Arlo Pro 2 cameras with then 2 spare Arlo Pro 2 cameras, including import and DHL fees.

Only issue has been the converter needed for the plugs ie voltage wise.

I do want to buy 6 more Arlo Pro 2 cameras but do I want to pay the high prices at Amazon UK or buy from Amazon US again? Food for thought I will have to mull on.

Perhaps the UK price includes the plug conversions costs etc....

I just need a single camera and base station for now. I am looking at buying these seperate and its coming in at about £362. Still mega expensive. I must admit reading through the forums and the issues i am starting to doubt the purchase a little.

On my US imports, I use a slightly underpowered Netgear adapter from an old modem to power the base station. Works fine.

For the cameras, regular USB power supplies. They may deliver just 5 volts, but they recharge the batteries just fine.

I don't have the cameras permanently powered.

It would help if Netgear followed the rest of the world and used multi-standard 120/240 volt adapters. Some users say that Netgear's modems and routers do ship with multi-standard adapters, but I'm not keen to try this on the Arlo devices.

Hi Michael

Thanks for that.  I hadn't realised that plugging in the cameras would charge them.  Does that mean there's no need for a separate battery charger?  I haven't bought one yet.

I've put the 4 cameras in my new home now with mobile wifi router and they work just great!!  Very impressed.  I want to buy more Arlo Pro 2s from Amazon UK to install by the front door, sides and back of house, but it looks like the release date in the UK is now pushed back to the 5th Jan 2018!  Meh!!  They are strangely selling just a standalone Arlo Pro 2 at £269 I believe with no base station.

I was thinking about whether I had any old Netgear adaptors but doesn't look like I do.  Am still in the process of moving / packing boxes; so may find one somewhere perhaps!

I am having Ring Pro installed this week as well.  I'm double covering myself ie having Ring Pro and also Arlo Pro 2 by the front door to cover the steps; and the Ring Pro to cover the doorbell/front door.

I hadn't realised you needed to pay if you wanted constant CVR recording.  Ouch!  It's expensive!!  I'm still happy with just the odd few seconds of recordings each time there is motion or sound.  Works for me.  I was able to follow what the handyman was doing yesterday in my new home in snippet recordings.

I recharge with a standard USB adapter.

The power supply for the base station just needs to deliver the right volts, amps and polarity. There is nothing special about the electricity that comes out of a Netgear adapter.

Hi Obsydian.
I’ve been looking at buying an Arlo Pro from Amazon US, but the shipping options don’t allow UK delivery, although the filters set to international seem to indicate they do.
Could you tell me how you arranged delivery?
Thanks in advance..

Amazon does not have a monopoly on selling these things. Then again, even Amazon UK says "This item will be released on January 5, 2018." Next week.

Remember, exports to the UK entail duty and VAT. But the UK price is seriously expensive at  £569.99.

As discussed before, have you considered the need for a UK power adapter? US deliveries come with a 120-volt adapter. I haven't tried mine to see if it works on 240 volts. Fortunately, contrary to one comment, a standard USB charger will work for the batteries.

Yeah, I’ve thought about using a second party to ship one from the US, but it just seems easier with having everything arranged through amazon.

I’ve been having issues at checkout (amazon us), but after some trial and error, it seems there is a weight limit for international shipping, the 2 camera system ships fine, but the 3 camera system is not available.

I currently have a arlo system where the night vision is poor. I’ve exchanged the cameras but there is no improvement, so now I’m looking at the pro standard, where I’ve read the Pro 2 is not as good as the original.
I was thinking the original Pro prices may drop in a week or two with the Pro 2 release, but the prices in the US shipped are a lot less so this may be the best way forward (for the Original pro).

What is your experience with the night vision quality?

If you look back onto the past posts on this thread, you'll see that I bought Arlo Pro 2 about a couple of months ago from Amazon US for £913, ie 4 cameras with the base.

I got a refund of £152 this week for the customs fees, which makes it then £761 for 4 cameras and a base.

I did place an order for Arlo Pro 2 with Amazon UK but bleh phwett(!), still no delivery as yet so I cancelled it and went to buy another 5 cameras and one base of Arlo Pro 2 from Amazon USA as I'm tired of waiting for the UK release date which keeps changing. And besides it works out cheaper buying it from Amazon US.

Just moved in to new home and unfortunately found out today there were some break ins a few days ago in the houses around me during the daytime. So Arlo Pro definitely needed for outside.
