Just purchased and installed this system. Didn’t realize that this system is completely useless in Canada when the temperature drops below -20C. Well, winters in Canada are normally colder than that, which brings me to my question. Does someone make a normal alkaline battery for these cameras that would actually work in the cold temperatures? I feel like I wasted $700.

Doesn't matter about the battery as the camera itself will shut down at -20c/-4F

( the battery will actually operate at a colder temp )

So you are basically saying that my worst fear is correct... these are useless in Canada in winter.

"It depends." (TM)

Not every place in Canada gets that cold (I'm in Rochester, NY across Ontario Lake from Toronto). And there are solutions if you want to explore them, such as the Q cameras which work through glass.

Thanks for all the responses. I live in Saskatchewan. We can go an entire month at -30. So i guess i should have done more research before buying these cameras. They do work perfect, when the temp is above -20.
