Android app update Nov 21 broke app!

I just did the latest November 21 update for the Arlo Android app. After I did the update, the app popped up with a notification that said it needed new permissions and would need to push out notifications to my phone. I thought that was fine because that's the way it's always been, but I've never seen this notification come from the app. The next thing that popped up was that it was asking for permission to make phone calls, which I denied because I don't want Arlo to make phone calls for me. I only have the basic. I was told  that with the Premium plan, the app can call 911. Nevertheless, the only permissions I've ever given Arlo is for notifications, and it worked just fine before.

 

After a bit of troubleshooting, it's very clear that denying the Arlo app the ability to make phone calls breaks the app. I can get into the Mode screen, but then the app does not allow me to do anything further. That means I can't arm or disarm cameras. I can't set up zones; I can't do scheduling; I can't do anything that I would need to do through the Mode screen. This is true for both Arlo Q and Pro 2 cameras on my app.

 

I did call customer support, and he took notes, gave me case #, and said someone would get back to me. So if you are having the same problems please call them and let them know....

App crashed, multiple unonstalls and re-installs with no improvement. Obviously the 11/21 update has a problem. No response fron Netgear.

What would be nice is if I could access the desktop/web version but no it wants you to install the app.  Everything is working on my desktop/web app.  I'm running a Samsung J3 with 8.0.  This is really rediculous.

Arlo app on my android keeps closing can not open it. For the last year it has worked just fine. I have already unistalled it same problem. I'm now ready to get rid of it.

It's a shame Arlo doesnt have customer service, after spending hundreds of dollars on the cameras what good are they if they update their app and dont help anyone

Yeah I know.... That really irritates me as well...I tried accessing the web page and it says something like "that request is not allowed".... Well then get your app working Arlo!!

Is there a contact number for support that you can talk to a real person I spent over 400.00 for this system you would think you could contact someone...

Looks like their is, however you have to pay if its after 90 days of you buying?? At least that's what their online support says

I have the same problem. Got home from work and wife handed me one camera that was blinking last night. Changed batteries and opened arlo app on android and i get same message. WTF

I have an android samsung galaxy halo and today i cant open arlo on my phone. It works on my PC but not on the phone...not happy.. When i go to arlo support to open a case, the chat support not available

A computer browser works fine. A mobile browser just needs to be set to use the desktop version via its menu. Note that live view won't work due to the lack of Flash.

You will have a file on your phone that ends in .apk for the file that you downloaded. Double-click the file and it will install that version of the Arlo app on your phone.

I shouldn't have to do any of that... The app should just work.... Tonight I reactivated my old phone.... The Arlo app works fine on my 3 year old phone.... Way to go Arlo..... I'll never buy Arlo cameras again.... And I've been happy with them up until now....I really believe that developers in general have to justify their jobs, so even if an app is running fine they have to constantly be messing with it......
